Had some fun ones yesterday* AM in central NJ. Got out early and was getting smacked with 50mph off shores. Wind so heavy it looked like a white out. Left the initial spot and did reconne. Wind died and I ended up having a great session with some nice held up chest high lefts. About to go spend a week shredding pow in Colorado. Don't look like I'll be missing to much at home. Yewww
I haven't been in the water in over a month, I am going nuts!!! On a brighter side, I have hit the hills in PA to shred some ice. Ha Have fun in CO!
It was so windy, blown out onshore chest high waves. Of course we had to look at it. The beach was deserted. For good reason. The ocean was warm. I would've been happy to paddle around in the whitewater, but there were gusts 25+ mph and it would've been ridiculous to try to walk the long board Down to the water. Tomorrow should be worse. It's a rare weekend to get skunked. But mid week looks promising for a day!
My wife and I went fishing at the Inlet and got skunked. Not one fish, but didn't see anybody else really catching anything either. Challenging conditions. Windy but it was at our back and we used the pier / jetty to our advantage but still no luck. Surf was blown, fish not biting. But it was still a fun day despite it all.
Able to get a few fun rides in early this morning, until the wind picked up and chopped it to pieces. Good to be in the water before work though. Looking like it gets bigger and sloppier over the next couple days, hoping Wednesday is clean up day. Told the wife after spring break, we need to get out of town for a couple days. Wish we could head over to other coast now, but it will just have to wait. Insert $hit emoji
Whoo! Got the barrel of the winter on a fluke wave during yesterday's Chest-high sesh. Windy, drifty, but side/offshore and super clean. Called my buddy into a left-hander on an A-frame, then saw he wasn't gonna make it and burned him. Dropped right into the barrel and stayed covered for the next 5 seconds! Came out clean, whipped a top-turn off the refraction and then scooted out before hitting the rocks on the inside. Sick!!! Today will be smaller but should still have some fun ones.
barrel of winter? chest hi? need to adjust your stok-o-meter homie, it seems poorly calibrated, stuck on children's mode had a super fun session at 3 foot plus outside reef break from the wrap, normally trade winds tear to shreds, it was calm and surfed head to slightly overhead waves with 1 other guy for 2.5 hours in trunks with no wind on wrapping rights 400 yards out to sea. 2-4 turns per wave and rippable. fun-city! good times, much success
Man... That wasn't very Thankful, Wrecks.. You stepped on Speed Bump's stoke! Speed Bump, good on ya... I haven't been barreled ONCE this winter. Closest thing was a close-out to the dome. I've pretty much missed every swell by one day. If I post I'm heading out anywhere, hit that spot 24 hours earlier and you'll score...
LOL, Screwby. If Wrecks was surfing as hard as he's claiming, he wouldn't be on this board. Notice how I disappear for months at a time? It's not because I'm not surfing. Today was fun too, but not as good. Less drift, more south, but no in-and-out barrels. Tomorrow probably even smaller, but still rideable. Nice to have sand back. Warmer weather doesn't hurt either.
Lunch hour off Dam Neck today. Mostly less than waist high. Water around 50, air 70. Windy, up to 20 or so. Again, no one else out. Have noticed fewer surfers out this winter around here despite milder winter and warmer water. But generally, with a few exceptions, surf conditions haven't been all that great.
got a dip in yesterday evening after work. as predicted, the wind died down significantly to clean up the lines. Two guys out in front of the break when i came charging, they left like 5 min later - i smell. Not a lot of peelers, but enough for a carve or two to the left or right. waist to chest. Folly Beach. 7'2" Hog Molly fish board. Should be doing the same after work today
Nice to get back out there this morning after a long run of onshore wind. This morning the wind was nearly calm with a slight breeze out of the SSW making conditions clean with a slight texture on the surface. ESE Swell, still a little deep and slow coming off high tide but it was breaking chest - shoulder / head high on the sets and it got more consistent as the morning went on and the tide was backing out. I was on my 6' M-80 and got a handful of rights and one left. Kinda wish I brought the Fish but I had some fun rides so no complaints here.
Nice clean up day in the Gulf. First hr felt sloppy, flew off the front of the board and racked meself soo bad. Finally settled in to some good rides. At work and still a little sore in the tenders, but worth it
Finally got out. Small waves, glassy waist high at best. Nobody there but me; all the morons were either working or abusing substances somewhere.......
Gonna give her a go later this arvo, it just hasn't been very good here lately. Hoping for the best, but if it's a no-go, gonna do some Razor Clamming at low tide tonight. Mmmmmmm....Razor Clams
great day today. South swell wrapping in perfectly in monmouth county. Not the biggest but shoulder high sets coming through and really good quality. Probably the best quality I've seen in NJ in a while.. For only 8 seconds, long fun lines for carving. It was soft this morning but firing now.
