Why don't we spend more time discussing fitness and nutrition?

Didn't entirely mean to write all that and I realize none of you particularly give a sh!t about me or what I do, but I am a complete training and nutrition nerd, and absolutely love reading, writing, thinking about, and practicing/testing all this stuff, so I kinda just started writing when I saw the thread title and couldn't stop. I'm not quite where I want to be with regards to overall appearance/fitness/performance goals (I don't think anyone ever is), but I'm far closer than I've ever been. And the older I get, the easier it is to stand out within my peer group (mid 30s married dudes with young kids, mostly not facing any serious health issues yet but by and large have let themselves go and given up on any semblance of looking good or staying in decent shape), and I don't mind admitting there's a huge ego/vanity component to that (which is why the above quote prompted this whole thought process). I'm a happily and faithfully married dude, but it still feels fvcking good to catch attractive women staring at me, after 30+ years of being the fat dude who stared at them but never got a second look in return (unless they were thinking why is that creepy fat guy staring at me).

Lol there are. I wrote it as four paragraphs. They were so long that I had to make each one a separate post.

And no, I'm not bored, like I said, I fvcking love talking about this stuff. Would try to make a career out of it except unfortunately I can earn a lot more doing something that I care far less about.

Ah, you are still seeing pediatricians for health issues.
    Keep up the health progress.
Now, the real reason for my age question is this--you still have plenty of time to make a career out of it, as you said you would like to do.
    If you can....go for it!!

I would add people that keep a "surf journal" and count how many days they surf. It all spells making it a job.

I like to do body weight exercises (on the gymnastic rings, parallette bars or pull up bar).. I do mostly upper body with that and for lower body dead lifts and squats with weight. Also like to utilize jump rope, kettle bells, atlas stones, skateboarding (carver)... handstands, rope climbs... once and a while I will actually run..

I do a fair amount of stretching too, every other day for the most part unless I feel i need more rest. It was a goal of mine and i have achieved the front splits on both legs, still working on the straddle (middle) splits.. *disclaimer* you don't *need* the splits for surfing obviously, but Ive had a few awkward popups where one foot is on the board sliding away from me and I know if I didn't train Id have a pulled groin lol. I like to do active and passive hangs from the rings or the bar to help stretch the shoulders out. Also take care of your spine, back bends and bridges... it all helps stay limber and fluid, in and out of the water.

I came across Ido Portal online when he was training Connor McGregor for the Diaz fight and he is a guru on all these things. Check his stuff out on youtube and insta. He focuses on general "movement" and it correlates well with not just everyday life but surfing as well. Seeing his stuff has given me better direction in my workouts and stretching techniques (the hanging has helped my shoulders greatly). Some make fun of him but he is pretty remarkable and very knowledgeable.
