When I first paddle out and immediately stop thinking about whatever work/home BS is weighing on my mind. Once I'm out, I'm pretty much only thinking about stuff related to being in the water.

Because it's something different every day. One day there is surf, the next day no surf. One day the blues are runnin, the next day they are not. One day the its crowded, the next day there is hardly anyone out. It gives us just enough to make us want more without getting tired of it.

I love how when I set up my umbrella, a couple chairs, and a cooler full of beer and food I feel like I have my own patch of beachfront property for the day.

This is even better on an empty stretch of North Carolina sand where I have a few hundred feet all to myself.

I actually don't really like the beach. In the summer its to damn hot and the sand is packed with drunk douche bags littering and blasting crappy music.

I do however love the beach in the early morning or late evenings for the sunrise/sunset. Or in the fall or winter or basically any time besides summer. Sometimes if its flat ill just go for a walk on the beach during the non summer months. I find it so cool that its completely empty. Its like removing yourself from society for a brief period of time.... yet the place holds some of my fondest memories. I really like going to the beach at night too. Can't see a thing. But yet the view is incredible. Best place to star gaze for sure. No light pollution over the ocean. I really like shells and sea glass. If i see a unique one or a perfect one that's not smashed, ill bring it home or stash it somewhere to grab after my session.

I think the beach is beautiful. And the fact that i live on a island is incredible to me. Yet people only flock to the beach during the summer as if its not beautiful the rest of the year. I don't get it, but I'm not complaining

I can dig it. I have the beach to myself 99% of the time when I go during the week. Sometimes there is a fisherman or two, or possibly a local walking their dog but generally I'm the only surfer in the water. Weekends sometimes adds people or when really good conditions have been forecasted for days in advanced, but even then I find my own slice of paradise. Even on weekends I can score it solo for hours though. It almost feels like a private beach. As a result, I'm spoiled and get cranky when people show up.

Im actually the same way. Can usually find my own space and if 5 guys show up i get claustrophobic. I meant on the actual beach its self. Non surfers.

Yeah man, when it's completely empty it's so peaceful. At least once a session I like to sit out back and close my eyes and just meditate on it.
