Don't have one, but would like to try one. Maybe someone can explain why they cost so much. The technology doesn't appear to be different, except for the obvious. Maybe when the Coolness Factor wears off, Huffy will make an affordable model. EDIT: Wish I could weld, I'd fab up the forks and rear part of the frame of an ancient rusty Schwinn beach cruiser and slap some fat arse tires on that b!tch. Add some old skool pinstripes and I'd have the sweetest whip on the boardwalk. No gears or disc brakes shenanigans necessary.
26" Mongoose Dolomite Men's 7-speed All-Terrain Fat Tire Mountain Bike, Navy Blue/Red Average rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars $207.53 I see a lot of these on the beach.
About three years ago, fat bikes became all the rage for mountain bikers because it allowed them to extend their season, especially in the Northern US. They are effective riding on sand and snow. Like all fads however, there were a lot of people that bought fat bikes for whom the novelty quickly faded. If you're thinking about giving it a try, try CL and mountain biking sites like mtbr. You can probably pick one up for a fairly reasonable price.
I picked one up a year and a half ago, and got hooked. Planned to rise it just in the winter, but now I rarely have the urge to ride a "skinny tired" mountain bike. Pricing sucks, but it's still pretty new. It has, and will continue to drop. I ran my first mountain bike race about a week back on my fat bike and did surprisingly well. I wasn't in a fat bike specific race, so I was riding the only one in my class. It's heavy for extended climbing or distance rides, but has traction for days. It's also almost like cheating through rock Gardens. Lower the tire pressure even more and it handles beach sand with ease. Anyway, for me it kind of renewed mountain biking. I'm not a kid, and I have a wonky left shoulder. I find the big low pressure tires take the edge off small trail bumps and keep my shoulder happy. If I clock myself, I'm still a touch faster overall on a regular mtn. bike, but it's just not as fun as the fatbike. if you have the opportunity to try one you should
all good ya chamo just hanging waiting to go away again to catch a couple good ones but dreading the flight
Kind of the same here. Surf has really sucked up here--more like lack of surf, ****ty wet weather, high winds--can't do anything worth doing. Maybe I will start drinking again........
Saw this 66 lb, $5K, fat tire hunting bike in Hunting magazine while waiting for my car at the shop: https://www.electricbikerevolution....=32462331977&gclid=CKnV9cqT1tMCFdOCswodZ-sOHQ
