In the future of Surfing and Skating there is going to be fluid transition of stance, or maybe not

I guess since dominant stance will always be there in amatures, goofyfoot will live on

But in the future I see professional surfers and skaters approaching fluently; it's progression. Or maybe not

This thread could easily be named the Death of Switch

I think about this on occasion.. should we all ,in a perfect world, go front side on rights and lefts? At first I would say, wow- yea that would be cool and feel awesome, but I have to say riding a wave smooth and efficiently backside is a whole different feeling- and I think thats why it will never go away. I fool around with switch on my carver as the waves are to crowded and scarce to mess around when its on lol, but what would be even more impressive is to be able to choose between front or backside for either left or right !

The only thing limiting us is our minds. Believe and you will achieve. Or something...

when compared to skating and snowboarding, surfing is in the Stone Age still when it comes to riding switch.

major surgery to my left calf 8 years ago! never thought id climb a ladder again, never mind surf! when I started surfing 4 years ago I went goofy because of the injury! then I switched after a year realizing my natural stance was regular! this really slowed my progression, took awhile for the brain to remember to bring the left foot forward! so much muscle memory in surfing! practice, practice, practice!

I can switch pretty much at will. The problem is I can't go left backside or facing worth a shlt. I can surf the wave, make turns, crunch down for a little cover up. But all in all I suck riding switchfoot much more than I suck regular foot.

I think it's just laziness that ppl don't learn to ride switch...

The hardest is riding backside switch...but do you really need to?

There are certain turns and maneuvers that just feel better riding backside, like more power produced thru the turn.

So all in all I think there are many pros and cons to both...

Clownface, you are wrong and I'll explain why.

For several centuries up until post WWII, many Western religions and cultures associated left handed people as servants of the devil and harboured several pathological traits such as perversity, savagery and criminality.

Discriminatory practices and attitudes continued up until the mid 20th century, where left-handed people were labeled as having "emotional negativism, and being described as "stubborn and willful", "awkward" and "clumsy".

Schoolchildren during these years went through "conversion"and were taught to write instead with their right hands, due to the existing negative connotations. My own mother went through this same conversion during her school years.

However, this is 2017 and Western culture has changed greatly...particularly in the last decade. What was once considered "good" (laws, police, guns, Christians, and being right-handed) have reached a paradigm shift in which those things are now considered "bad". As well, things once considered "bad" (thugs, prisons, illegals, Muslim extremists, left-handers) are now considered as being "enlightened" and "good". Case in point: Obama is a left-handed lefty.

Clownfish, my point is that you are wayyy off base in your unscientific assumptions. Clearly, evidence points to lefties being heralded and lionized over the next few centuries.

Expect to see regular foots slowly disappear over the next few decades, as they take part in a worldwide conversion to Leftism.

Also, we will see the demise of classic righthand waves, as undiscovered and yet unridden lefts start to dominate the surfing landscape.

Coming to a beach near you. Soon.

You are no student of either anatomy or evidence.
Our brains do not work that way, or, better said, they rarely do. Being truly ambidextrous is rare, very rare.
Now having said that, I conclude your brain hardly works at all. But just slightly less than mine. After all, I am responding to an imbecility.

    Maybe.

But whatever your opinion of me is, it doesn't even come close to the fact that you're the biggest troll on here, and the biggest pussie in this site as well.

You've got several usernames (troll), you have internet conversations with yourself (psycho), and you only muster up the courage to bash members like me under your pseudonym (pussie a$$ coward) because you don't have enough sack to bash anyone using your original username.

Your game got old and tired fast, Clownshoes. Nobody here likes you or respects you. I hope Herlihy runs you over with his PWC on a knee high day, you fkn kook.

I learned to surf backside, and only rode lefts as a regular foot for almost 20 years. I like surfing backside, and don't thing there's anything quite as powerful in my surfing as a full rail backside hack.

I'm goofy, in more ways than one.

I was thinkin recently... (Oh, no...) If I was gonna teach someone to surf, how would we decide whether they's goofy, or reg? I honestly can't remember, 50 yrs ago, how I made that decision. Reckon my right foot kinda knew what it was doin, so I wanted to keep an eye on it.

I even feel more comfortable bodysurfin to the left, like when I'm goin frontside on a board.

    Ok. Enough thinkin for today.
