A pistol pointed into the ear will take care of all the ear problems, if you find it to be so very annoying. If not annoying, don't pull the trigger. Of course, it could be that parasitic flatworm that bores into your brain........
I can't get a q-tip in my left ear. I know it's affecting my hearing, but senility is probably the limiting factor there anyway.
Barry, you're an old bastard who has been surfing for years - do you wear plugs? Or just genetically blessed to not suffer from surfers ear? [or a fake surfer?]
No ear problems, so I am lucky. And I do surf all winter long. Why? Who knows--genetics, just good luck??
i'm the same way. you won't see me slapping my head cocked to the side trying to knock out any surfer ear. all the while my buddies are knocking themselves senseless at times. it's good to feel good
Never had surfers ear but I do get surfers d*ck after surfing in cold temps. It is embarrassing and sometimes a little alarming!
That's the ***** of this thing it seems. You don't know if you're going to get it until you have it. As someone who mostly longboards when it's over 40˚ I think this isn't a big issue for me. No duck diving, no problem right?
Yea... I know. My doctor, my wife, and all my friends tell me the same thing. But I have this little trick where I pull and twist the tip of a q-tip into a long, thin wick, and use it to wick the water out of my ears. It works, but I don't advise anyone do it. If you do go too deep, you definitely feel it!
Your doc or ear/nose/throat specialist can tell you if bony growth is occurring, and to what degree. I have partial closure in both ears.
Got it now, left ear is closed up ,January and Feb. had it in right ear ,i think some of these problems are from the nasty runoff after storms .so dont come home from surfing and pass out like i do ,clean out your ears first.
about 10 years ago, I started wearing a hood full time. May seem ridiculous to some east coasters, but a lot of people do that here in nor cal. Keeps surfers ear out, lessens sunburn (stay out longer) and, of course, keeps you warmer. Despite the hood, I was getting a growth in my left ear...turns out it's a fungus from polluted water (I'm guessing more from pigeon sh!t coming off the pier than anything else). Every few weeks, a mushroom falls out of my ear.
I saw my doc today, he gave me a clean bill of health. I didn't even ask him again aboot the bony ear thing, now that I know more than him from reading this tread.
Take antibiotics, you can get them online without a prescription, amoxicillin works great. If that doesn't work at least you will know you have a real problem. I just recently had an acute ear infection which most of the times clears up. But if that slight tingle turns in to a sharp tingling get antibiotics. See there is this thing called bacteria and not all of it is good. So just like the great flood you gotta kill them all. Long story short I was on a strong antibiotic doxycycline for gonorrhea and my ear infection cleared up real nice too. Just previously I had a sinus infection and took amoxicillin so even if I wasn't on doxycycline for my proclivities I would need another kind of antibiotic. I keep 12 different antibiotics on hand. Usually I use antibiotics 1-3 times a year for illnesses. The trick is knowing the difference between a viral infection and bacterial infection, also viral infections can cause bacterial infections. If you haven't taken antibiotics in over 2 years you should take them right now, even if you're not sick. Basically since penicillin was invented dumb old people like you don't die at the age of 35 from an ear infections that turns to a sinus infections that turn to bronchitis that turns to pneumonia. But most adults are retarded. Sorry most people I tried to let pneumonia heal itself and it almost killed me. For some reason I thought pneumonia wasn't treatable with antibiotics; I was wrong. Pneumonia is easily treatable with antibiotics. That was before I became Dr Clownface P.s. make sure you finish your prescription and usually take on an empty stomach. Antibiotics will backfire on you if you take them improperly. For instance 1 day you might get bronchitis and doc will give you amoxicillin, it won't work and it will progress into pneumonia, then either be smart and switch antibiotics or like most other people end up in the hospital getting fluids pumped into you. Then they might double prescribe you amoxicillin because they don't know your history. When I travel I always bring 3 kinds of antibiotics
