The sounds to be such a gay event. Cannot wait to get all dolled up to go!!! I will even wear make up!!!
Be sure to bring your flaming sombrero hat and pink tutu, Barry. Perhaps they will let you help paint things, while wearing all. I have known the wave for over 50 years. My interest rests strictly upon what Enjo has in mind for it.
I imagine you can find some online. I have always enjoyed this one nearby, but it only hits about five times a year:
Thanks Lance. Located another oldie (1979): As well as Enjo's website: http://www.firstpeak.org/ And a few relevant publications, for anyone with in-depth interest... "SloFlo" is a cool bunch from back in the day, one chick and her brothers, plus a few tight friends, and most still shred. Past my bedtime, but here is one more:
What a wave back in the day, unfortunately you have never surf it and therefor wouldn't be saying that if it was in your backyard. It was truly one of the best and most iconic waves on the east coast. Back in the day I have literally surfed first peak 2 ft. overhead with maybe a dozen guys out on a weekday and get a barrel every wave.
Pretty sure that today's aerial game was born and raised at the Inlet. Got some Surfer mags going back to the late 70's showing it going off pretty good...always wanted to try it, but a very aggressive and experienced pack of rabid locals in about the tiniest takeoff zone in the world made it kinda daunting.
There a millions of other breaks just like it around the world. You just don't know where they are. Nobody does, as there are too many of them. Unknowable.
Watching that old vid made me laugh a little bit. I can't believe how much surfing has progressed since 1979. Most of those guys would get purposely cut off these days.
Maybe, if they had not also progressed. Another oldie for laughs, minimal surf, bikini contest stole the show: Didn't attend today's event, but word will get about in time. Poking around the website, Enjo has the idea of maybe reconstructing with the worms. If on removable screens, it may have a chance of gaining support: https://www.firstpeak.org/coastal-ecology/surfing-superstar-worm-reef/
