Yeah I thought the same thing when I first saw it, but it would take some time to happen if it was going to happen at all.

It happened a few miles south of Grimes.

Dude. What if that slide filled in Grimes, can you imagine. That'd be like having Seaside Point wiped off the map. Or (insert name of the EC's most epic break here). That would be seriously FUKED.

But the Monterey County boys gotta be stoked that Santa Cruz is totally cut off. Heck, they probably got everything detoured for miles.

Now, there will be no more talk of Grimes here ;)

Fark dude, you are gonna fall in love with that place.

Moving in with a lady is another form of natural disaster. Especially a French Canuck.

WTF do you want to grow up to be like Barry lol

Mudslides/landslides in Big Sur are not uncommon, but that's a big one: over a quarter mile wide and 40 ft deep. Been through that area quite a few times: college days, honeymoon, other trips.

Too bad the landslide wasn't all of Commiefornia, taking Moonbeam Gerry Brown down to the depths.

Look at the cliff where the lifeguard tower is at lower Trestles. I could see that one day falling in if there were ever torrential rains there.

Why is it every thread on this site gets hijacked by politics at one point or another....it's getting tired.

Was in Big Sur last summer, curious to see if if anything comes out of this.

Might be easier to tunnel through it than remove the whole mess.;)
I have a lot of fond memories of that area.

Get on Google Earth and run down the coastline. From a bird's eye view, you can actually see previous slides from decades ago (I haven't viewed Trestles). Anything close to a previous slide is a strong candidate for a new one. The entire Left Coast is prone but WA has gotta be the worst because of the amount of rainfall. My county got 10 feet of it between October and April this year...a record.

Oh Barry, I know you're going to improve this board a lot sometime in the next say 10 years. By, you know, dropping dead. Serious question - will your widow have a yard sale of your board or are you getting buried like them like an Egyptian?

    Ha ha.
