I got footage of somewhere very close to archy right after sandy where it looked like kirra,waves lasting 3 fukin jetties.do u know how fukin epic that is,3 jetties!!!around the world sure but right here at home 15 minutes away empty cold water kirra all day long.january swell,not doomsday btw

 

If NJ and NY weren't such horrible places I would be jealous of the guys who work both sides of the Hudson Canyon. I once overheard a local talking about finding offshores on certain swells by riding either NY or NJ ( By overheard I mean watched on YouTube )

NJ and NY is going to get lit up tomorrow and I don't really care for this swell much. If I was in NJ, I would be sound asleep.

We get hit with Nor Easters like the whole ocean piles up on us, and it's all lefts. If you go right enough you will pull out into a set wave on the head. This is why poor little regular footed Colin needs his Ba Ba jetski. It's not easy! Paddle out at the wrong spot and your going to have a bad time ( I'm regular footed by the way, i love the BS nonsense all day )

Archy this question is for you because I have reason to believe that your credentials are valid. Do you guys get any action from Nor Easters? Or is Cape May the only Maybe?

What I'm getting at Archy, is certain NJ and NY surfers see a significant amount more of favorable conditions days including size than the OCMD only surfer. Simply because it's very hard for a Nor Easter to produce favorable local conditions here. Trust me I'm watching you guys get lit up with those south swells alot.

When I say certain surfers Archy, I mean NJ and NY is huge. Where is the best spot to be located, to be within reasonable driving distance to optimize your swell window?

 

Best spot is where I live. Always I mean always I see dudes from down south up here on southies and NY. guys down here on southies w west winds.
From my house Long Beach, Lido is 1 1/2 hours and AC is 1 1/2 hour.
We got some decent setups round here that handle NorEasties.
NNW winds head south. Straight N NNE winds head to NY.
Pretty good here today.
Surf a spot all by myself today. Head high and barreling.

Yea I know; Jersey has a long list of downsides, but it seems like a good spot. I call it the Cali of the eastcoast

Jersey really is that much colder than OCMD.

Has anybody been held down for 2 waves on the EC?

I've been kinda close twice, one time would've been ugly on a paddle out wipe out, I duck dove when I should of ditched, lucky I found the ground and pushed off. Both times were 10ft swells. Both times I had 2 seconds, and I fought for the surface.

Our waves will sometimes be right on top of eachother

 

very true,just like everywhere else in jersey.theres only 2 places iv never been skunked no matter what the forecast read and that's lbi and the inlet.the sand is always working overtime overthere,they always have waves and have lefts and rights.but u have to do it in season,when its cold.summertime is just a waste of a trip.

I used to work like 5 minutes from the inlet.kind of miss it since I knew all the shortcuts,there really isn't one lol but where I worked I didn't have to hop on 34 or the parkway I already did that to get to my job.

 

yo dogs,im going to try to play nice today because u really are uneducated on the surf scene.

2 wave hold down on the ec.first off its not bad.big difference between a 40' 2 wave hold down,and a 4' 2 wave hold down.I had plenty of times where I wiped out and the 2nd I pop up another one lands on me.dont know if that counts,its really not that bad u are literally underwater for 3 seconds on each wave so.as fast as the wave moves is as fast as u resurface.

and the Hudson canyon has nothing to do with wave shapes.its all about the sand.if the water is deep,which it never is on the ec,i wouldn't consider 10' deep and it hits a shallow sandbar which is all we get,the wave jacks up squarely and unloads.

another thing that determines the shape of a wave is the direction of the swell.south swells are the best imo.

seriously tho if u think ocmd doesn't get good waves u need to go on youtube or surfline or something because its pretty heavy down there.i still believe u are sharkhunter btw which is the only logical explanation I can come up with

 

We do get great surf in OCMD, but we don't get hit right by south swells, the outer Banks shadows us

It's like a smaller version of a 2 wave hold down bUT I'm convinced it's possible.

A couple of guys survived a 3 wave hold down at Mavs

 

Good waves, good weather, not crowded, and in NJ...great video. Fake! If it were NJ, the winds would switch at 11am and flatten it out. We never get good waves. Go away. Don't come here. It's bad. And Dangerous! Snakes, spiders, and gangs and such. Sharks and roaches too. All over the place.

...if that. But those are the big hurricane and TS swells that we look forward to all year. I've always said... the best surf I've had here over the past 20 years has been 9' @ 9 seconds out of the south, which has only happened a couple of times. Believe it or not, the extra second makes a difference.

 

I love bonetards south of Jenks on a solid south swell.

 

low pressure nor easters are always the best.our sand just doesn't handle the long period swells from hurricanes.just a few spots that everyone knows about and its not even worth paddling out half the time.

hopefully we get atleast 2 more storms before the summer flat spell
