Do you seriously log your surf sessions? Do you count the days that you get in the water, or just the ones that you surf?

If a person dont know alot about swell formation it is sometimes a good idea to keep a writen log about wave size, swell direction and wind direction for what ever places you surf the most . After awhile you understand and know where to go under certain weather conditions.

yea man ..this totally pays off when you catch that wave thats 1000000000000000000000000x better than the one breaking 7 blocks south

youll think well damn, thank goodness ive been logging my surf hours and locations for these past 5 years

I don't really keep track but I'd say; there are 52 weeks in the year and I don't surf for about 12 of them. So that leaves 40 weeks of possible surf time. From there, I would guesstimate that I end up getting out there about 20-30 times per year.

How many times have you flogged the dolphin this week? anyone?
anyhow ive prob been out at least 60 times in 2009

for me i havent surf for a totall of about 3 months out of the whole year since january till now. i have had a knee injury in the spring and was out of surfing for 2 months then i was busy for a week here and there during the summer months. but i try to get out in the ocean every day. and even if theres no waves you can go fishing or just paddle around and gain paddling speed.

Hmmm... just for the record... Dale Webster is one of the nicest, sweetest, humble guys you could ever meet. He wasn't doing this for any records... he just decided one day, for personal reasons that he wanted to surf on a really crappy day. And it made him forget about his problems that day. And so he did it again the next day. Then 28 years later...

He really is such a nice guy man... Dale is the surfer we should all want to be, attitude wise.

Oh, and going out every day in Bodega Bay? Wow...

I could never keep tickie marks on a calander for my wife to use against me.

She would not be too stoked when she realizes that I surf 5 to 7 days a week....every week.(providing there is swell of course).

I mean, I'm sure that she is aware that I surf almost every day but that would be for sure rubbing her face in it.

    Not cool for me...

I don't think its as bogus as some of you think it is to keep a log.

I remember some guy in a surf movie was talking about it, can't remember the movie but he made a good point. He mentioned something like this, If you do keep a log, it really helps on remebering certain swells then just getting them all mixed together as the years go on. Like jot down size, break, date and people you where with or not.

Makes for a good flashback I guess. I haven't done it personally, but maybe one day I'll get to it.
