one of those contests I never get to watch cause it comes on like 3 in the morning.

saw the highlights tho,looks like the best conditions for jbay iv seen in the past decade.10s all over the place

 

Jordy Smith is just killin' it right now.....two 10's yest, another 10 today on gorgeous J Bay clean DOH faces....

Beautiful conditions but long lulls between waves.

 

Event on hold due to 8 ft shark in lineup. Pansies......

 

They're always in the lineup, they just don't see them.

 

Had to some actual work, missed this.....Is this another shark event hold or the one from the other day...?

 

A separate incident at same event....

 

this event is both everything that's amazing with surfing (amazing waves, man v nature) and everything that's awful with it (10's for alley oops, terrible judging in the JJF Heat)

 

So... Jordy's 10s or Filipe's? The traditionalist in me wants to say Jordy, but damn... Filipe's is maybe the most amazing surfing I've seen in a contest ever. Just... damn!!!!

I think that is a wave that needs to be ridden quite a bit to understand how to time the turns and stalls. Plus you need lots of speed. What a rush. These kids have so much talent, they make it look easy to stay in the pocket.
