So I just learned that the Cocoa Beach Adjustment Board voted and approved unanimously to put 3 county fair style amusement rides at the pier, one being a carousel, the other a Drop-and-Twist? WTF!!!?
Are you kiddn....?!? wayne the insaane will be first in line for a job...... as a guide for children who are visiting the pier...
"Hey little boy, you aren't tall enough for the carousel, but have you ever ridden in a white van filled with candy?"
good ole cocoa beach pier. back in the day I caught some great surf there. turned into a chit storm. last time I was there bums tried to strong arm me for 5 bucks!
lol. they said they needed $5 to make a six pack. I was literally in my board shorts with board in hand. dude tried to feel my front pocket for cash. they then told me my car would be ruined if I didn't give up some money. it was funny as hell. both weighed maybe 100lbs and were piss drunk. I've surfed in the area a ton (friends and family used to live there) so I know what to expect.
Me too, early 70s. It's the CANAVERAL Pier. Fvckin Cocoa Beach hadda go steal our pier. Fvckers. Here in Galveston, we got rides all over our Pier, well the Pier near my house. Pleasure Pier. Lots of traffic now. Basically impossible to park my truck there in summer, except for weekdays early. Either surf a few blocks away, ride my bike, or just walk from the house. It's flatter than flat today. Fleet of shrimpin boats in real close, where I'm supposed to be surfin. Wade fishers all down the beach.
That's what's going to happen here. It's hard enough finding parking at the pier, unless they build a parking garage it's going to be impossible unless you get there before sunrise, which I tend to do anyways. They are going to widen the pier and add more restaurants, bars, shops, etc. "It's gonna yuuuuuuuge!"
