Man, I'm still buzzing from earlier. The IPA's help, but I can't get over how user friendly these waves were.
Sunday flat morning again. Plus 25MPH winds from NE. Chop. Cycled again for 1 hour only as we have company coming for lunch.
onshore and small.... and a fat tide this morning. No go. Viz is only about 3', if that.... horrible combination - no waves, bad viz. Maybe go for a sail when the sun comes out later...
Another fun day on the LB. Mid - Low outgoing tide, light offshore wind, clean long lines, crystal clear blue water. Just a gorgeous day. Mostly thigh - waist high with a few bigger ones every now and then. These little waves had great form and held a long line, both lefts and rights were coming in. The last two days haven't been big but the quality has been really good. Not bad for July!
Whats up everyone; I gotta tell you all about an interesting wave from today. I caught a wave with two other surfers (3 people on one wave). Here is where it gets interesting; the other guy on the wave pulled down the girl surfer's bikini bottom mid wave and we all kept going haha! Imagine being locked into the pocket, looking at some chicks but haha. Good times
Nah, just thought you might get a good laugh out of that story. It wasn't me that "pants" the girl. They were both slightly older than me and I'm in my twenties.
I haven't been surfing in the past few days at all. Was sick for two days, but it didn't look like I was missing much. Felt better today, but nothing good to be had, as far as surf goes. Leaving for a week in Las Vegas tomorrow. My best friend pays for myself and 3 other long time friends to spend a week in Vegas and we get a suite and have a good time for a week. One guy lives out in Galveston, Texas and the other in Treasure Island, Florida. So they don't wanna take a vacation to a tropical surfing destination, not to mention that they don't surf either. I get to visit with my brother who lives out there, so that's the only reason I even feel like going. Hope everyone catches some waves back home this week! Maybe I'll put $10 bucks in a slot machine and win hundreds?!
Got back in town yesterday afternoon. waves were chopster, but there were good size chest peaks. the drift was strong, one session which seemed short carried us from the beginning of the washout to the showers. no one else was out there but the three of us buds. all took shorties, mine being a 6'4" perfection. was going into hi tide, and grabbed a handful. tough paddle out if you tried to rush back in. still a good session w the amigos. A plus, we got to talk more about our plans for some september sessions in Kill Devil Hills, looking forward to what will be my first ride out to Outer Banks
First actual swell in a month. Fun. Poison Polluted. North wind messed it up, too, right on cue. Oh wel i surfed and it was a swell. Pure Stoke.
Got it Saturday and Sunday pretty good at two different spots here in Jerz. Today blew. Sat I logged it in Ocean Co. and my girl surfed with me. We had an awesome sesh trading knee to thigh hi waves on what was a little pointbreak-esq sand bar set up. The rides were pretty long. Lots of fun ones. Water was extremely green and pretty translucent. The wind was forecast to be bad, but it never was. Something less than 5mph onshore/side shore. Rays were out in full effect. Surfed over like 50 of them. Before getting out my gf claimed she saw a fin 5 yards from her and another guy we were surfing with confirmed the same. I wrote it off as a ray, but we got out anyway since it started pouring and got dark. This leads me to ponder, when will you get out if you know a shark is in your space? Would you even get out? I mean if it's little I wouldn't mind. I've surfed with a thresher breaching near me and kept on. Wasn't really fazed by it. I'd be weary if it was a bull or something bigger, which I have seen in the surf before. Sunday DP down in South Joizy was a ball. Best waist to stomach hi waves I've surfed in some time. Surfed a dredged out right that was bigger than most other spots around. Just my friend and I for the first hour and then a few other mellow dudes who kept there distance. Winds straight off shore and the spot offered a variety of death pits turning into long ripable walls. Pulled a few 3-5 turn waves and death barrels with no escape. Definitely fun. Today not so much. Chop, no lines. Disorganized. Wasted time. But there was energy in the water and I'd rather be surfing than not. Ready for some E or NE swell soon. Getting tired of taking all rights. Tis the season.
North winds suck. winds died down as i expected, but it shifted north north north west on me. not much stoke on the rides this morning. thi to stomach w long awaiting sitting periods. SI model is a lil off down here on the forecasting, so i'm not sure what to expect for the rest of this week - prolly not much
last night on the delmarva - clear warm water, fun waist high nuggets. Sooooo stoked. Love me a good summer after work session when the winds cooperate.
Went out this morning..waist to shoulder- high winds- high chop-sh1tty session, BUT...got lots of exercise.
You said it. Frustrating day. Just when it got good and clean before you had a chance to enjoy it, north wind total destruction.
That's the spirit! You still surfed and surfing is a healthy habit. My thoughts exactly. Sometimes its just practice and exercise that helps for when it gets good.
Where did you surf? I paddled out in the area of Brick Beach. I found a good high tide spot and had a blast from about 930-1130. Id say it was a solid 2-3ft. Wind was SSW, then went straight offshore for over an hour. Good combo swell, tons of lefts and rights. Wind did go north when I got out, but still looked fun when I was walking off the beach. I checked the cams later in the day and it did look kinda crappy.
