Sup homies. Well its no secret im pretty rough on my wetsuites. I ussually get 6 months out of them before they transition into summer time swiss cheese suites and have to re-up on new rubber every winter. This is because i surf everyday (and im not exaggerating by much) for a few hours a day in the same 5 mil.

So my quandry is this, I bought a rip curl e bomb 5 mil at the rip curl outlet in santa cruz for $200 bucks last year. The cashier hooked it up because it was last years model, and I was "a homie from oregon" so he waived sales tax and took $20 off. The wetsuite lasted from november till now. Some of the threads came out in the neck and now the neck panel is started to detach over my back right shoulder and has developed a hole that will continue to grow in size if it remains un-repaired.

Additionally the wrist has started to develop a tear, that i dolloped some aquaseal on but the tear has become self aware and started to tear around the aquaseal dollop and continue its upward progression.

So to make a ridiculously long story short, should i send the wetsuite into the warranty etherspace to be repaired, or do a do-it-yourself patch job with extra neoprene and aquaseal thereby waiving my warrenty rights?

The way i see it, it could be viewed as normal wear an tear or it could be manufacturers error depending on who examines it. I have an extra suite (real swiss cheesy) that could get me through the rest of the summer potentially, and ill be out on fires so this will be the optimal time. But ill be pissed if they say its normal wear and tear and send it back. Have any of you guys had any luck with the warrenty creatons?

Yes! I sent a 6 year old 6/5/4 to Ripcurl with an itemized list of what to fix, and requested a quote - they fixed all of it and few more things FOR FREE and shipped it back FOR FREE!

So far I've had 2 more seasons out of it. In fact still going strong.

I've done with with some of my other Rip Curl suits for simple repairs and they fixed it for free.
But this one was really messed up.

Include a letter on how you have worn Rip Curl since you were a newb, and you love them so much.

A nut I used to work with, TJ, he gets free pairs of Nike running shoes every few months, he runs 15 miles a day. He always includes a nice letter. Says he is a Nam vet (true)

Include the fact you are a firefighter.

There used to b this outlet called whiskey militia.com where I bought wetsuits and boots, etc on the cheap.
They have folded, changed their name to steepandcheap.com and still give adequate prices.
Just bought a pair of O'Neill booties from them. They are on the way. 25% off list in local stores; always nice to get a deal, even if small.....
Try them out, guys. Hope they work for you as well....

Didn't they used to have the "Deal of the Day" on this site by Whiskey M?

Yes, and they still do, I think.
Anyway, they have changed their format; easier to use. I kept my account, and my new Oneill booties are on their way-getting ready for Fall wave season.
