Their best years. I always liked "Get your Yayas Out" amongst their best; live album. Mick taylors guitar work there is fantastic - he was but 20 years old then.
CYC.. . I'm not arguing or disagreeing with you. Like i said, my comment was not directed at you or the topic of this thread. It was purely directed at Barry. He did mention a generational thing. And although i get it, because most in my generation are pansies, not all of us are. So i do always stand up for the generation. It's a trigger with me. Because i work my ass off outdoors in the heat and cold year round, just like the guys you mentioned. BUT i was not taking a stand for my generation. I was just merely saying it's not a generational thing. If you mistook my comment as me defending my generation, then you got it wrong.
and by the way. Speaking of bloody Mary's and the stones... 1) if you like your bloody Mary's a little spicy, try using absolute peppar. They spell pepper weird for some reason. But it's mighty tastey. 2) if you ever get the chance, read Keith Richards book. I was never a big stones fan, but that was a good read
I went to buxton in late june for three weeks alone playing gigs at night and surfing all day. Stayed in an awful really old motel Busbey called my cell. "Doing chinups all day" he said. Really old/really small he said. He wouldn't even set foot in it. I was playing get yer ya-yas out jumping jack flash/love in vain/honky tonk women/street fighting man full volume the entire time. I rocked out all night playing my music and Busbey would wake my dead ass up and we surfed our brains out all day. A real surf trip. Hatteras.
update for everybody from the OBX.... There is no power from south of Oregon inlet to occracoke, They have about 9 generators up and running so there is power for ligthting and cooking but no ac, heat pumps, or laundry can be run at all. The construction crew building the new oregon inlet bridge drilled through the main transmission lines for electricity so they are working on a way to fix them. as of today, there are no visitors allowed down on the island still. Luckily i can get down here because i work at REAL down in rodanthe. also as of today, there will be no true power to everyone for at least the next week or two. the locals down here are HURTING. so if yall can make a trip down here to spend money when the island reopens at some point that would greatly appreciated by everyone down here. fall is quickly approaching so that means surf down here. if ya can, come on a trip!! if you need advice on spots to surf, places to stay, food, drinks, etc. PM me and i will be more than happy to help out. ill keep yall posted as i hear more. Andy PS The only good thing is that there is surf in the forecast and only the locals will get to surf it. stoked on that at least....
Mick Taylor recorded a great album in 1967 with John Mayall called Crusade (or perhaps Crusader) Fantastic recordings because of the guitar playing of Taylor as an 18 yr old "prodigy".
Feeling for you guys in the OBX. I'll be up there spending $ this fall for sure. I'll use this as an excuse to loosen the wallot strings a bit while I'm up there. at least mother nature is hooking it up with some lower temps and lower humidity for a few days. Super rare in late July!
Yea man we've lucked out for because last week was hot as hell. Now we might have Emily heading our way.... gonna be an interesting couple weeks for sure
How are things north of oregon inlet? Business as usual? I'll be heading to kitty hawk this fall to visit my uncle and hopefully get some sessions in with him. Will definitely head south. I feel for those business owners, especially in the height of the tourist season.
Trip insurance for $75 for Irene in 2011 when I rented one of those monster houses in Rodanthe. Best money ever spent. Hatteras businesses should rally a group claim against Bobo the Builder and regulate them back to Lincoln log projects. Sucks you can't even day trip there - hell im suffering emotional trauma over this and I live a couple hours away
OBX suing the **** out of the electrical company. i'd imagine they recoup a quarter of their losses. i don't understand tho why police are telling ppl to turn around, not let ppl on the islands. i'm sure there are ppl close by who don't mind running down there - Hatteras for example - to kayak or do fishing, in our case most likely surfing. perhaps some of these shops can charge cash only, my .02
