get on your tinfoil hats and post your best conspiracy theory as to why they're down.

in reality sean probably forgot to pay this months hosting bill or the collective surf boners in NJ right now has hugged the site to sleep for a few hours.

    Good. Eliminate all surf cams.

Could it be the locals in Belmar taking down the actual cam that is hung near by said surfshop in Belmar??? lol

seriously, I checked it a few times yesterday, and it was working at least in Belmar and a few other spots.

I have found that it wasn't working well in the past 2 months- I figured it was due to bandwidth and too much traffic?? Is sean on here at add any comments??

That site seems to be down almost every other day, and if it's not, a few of the cams won't load up anyway.

And I really need to rant on Surfline for a minute. Their new site sucks. Surfline beta? Don't they know beta is another word for ''Weak''? It's definitely a beta site, that's for sure. I had to watch a 60 seconds (maybe even 90 second) ad before watching a cam, and the ad was so long that it started buffering non-stop towards the end.

Just download the Surfline app on your phone for free and use that. It has a 3 day forecast, full report at around sunrise and in the afternoon. They'll also change the rating live in the event conditions change fast between reports. Best of all it has all the relevant buoys for every break along the coast right there at the bottom of the report. That's mainly what I use, I know exactly what my area breaks do based on that alone.

The cams can be watched after a short ad, you can watch for 30 seconds at a time before another short ad. I barely even use the cams to be honest. I've been fooled both good and bad that way. I trust the buoy and check with my eyes mostly. But if I need to see a cam it's enough time to get a good idea.

More realistic reason is the site cannot handle the volume of traffic when the waves are good.

It always used to only show a 30 second ad, but I had to watch a 60-90 second ad the other day, couldn't tell how long it was with all the buffering. I'll try the app though, I actually never thought of that. Thanks!

I only use the cam because my home break right in town has a cam. There's also came for it on other sites, which don't seem to work too well on mobile devices, so I find myself going there.
