It all comes down to the timing and strength of that cold front that comes down from Canada.

These models are fukin crazy. Im calling BS. I give an 80% chance she goes out to sea. The other 20% will spell disaster to Chesapeake area, they are waaaay overdue.

    those models look pretty scary.

I seen from the first model betty or someone posted, theres 2 high pressure systems out at sea.that is a bad thing lol.

an ideal setup for epic surf is a high pressure system right on the coast above land, meaning the hurricane will travel right offshore giving us good surf.

now a high pressure out at sea, means the storm has no choice but to head towards landfall.

think of it like magnets, u put the opposite end up against the magnetic side and it pushes the magnet away.thats how highs and lows operate.high at sea means low heads towards land and vice versa

Well...there goes the neighborhood....Maybe if I waited 4 months, I could have bought this new house 2000 feet from the ocean for 10% of the price........

everywhere this storm is discussed, someone always says, "I have a feeling about this one...."

nevertheless, ran and bought a generator at Lowes today because, well, I have a feeling about this one...

The best part of buying a generator is that you will never regret buying it.

Agreed... though I haven't used mine in a long time... still a good buy. Also a word to the wise- make sure you empty ALL the gas out when done use. Like empty the gas, run it dry then drop the bowl on the carb and spray a little carb cleaner up the center bolt area of the bottom of the bowl (jet). Also pull the spark plug and give a quick spray of fogging fluid or WD40 in the cylinder. Then pull the rope once with plug in- and stop pulling right when you feel pressure on the rope.... then you can let it sit forever and still be sure it will start when you need it...

Anyways- way off point... but I guess we might as well start filling the gas cans up with fresh gas for the season...

We had the power knocked out in a Hurricane so I wheeled out my generator. It wouldn't start. Spent the next 5 hours tinkering with it and finally after cleaning the carb it started. Went inside and we had power to the tv a few lights and the vcr. We settled in to watch a movie. 15 minutes into the movie the power came back on and never went off again.

It seems that it is sending big swells to the east coast of florida my guess is they will be maxing out at about 16 feet but it seems it will be choppy. I just hope it goes under florida and sits in the middle of the gulf as a category 5 hurricane so the gulf finally gets some surf!

It seems we have a hurricane threat at least once a year in Jersey. More times than not, we usually get nothing in the end. Excluding Irene and Sandy.

I don't remember nearly as many storms threatening the mid Atlantic when I was a kid or in my 20's and 30's. I could count them on one hand, up until this decade. Gloria was a big one back in 85. For some reason, I remember Belle back in 1976. It was a few weeks before I started Kindergarten. A tree wound up falling into one of our neighbors garages and destroying it. It didn't do too much damage in North Jersey, where I grew up and was living at the time. Maybe it was even worse than I remembered though, I was only 5 at the time.

I remember some storm in the early 90's knocking some trees over in North Jersey. It wasn't a snowstorm either. It may have been Hurricane Bob back in 1991, or it may have just been some kind of a nor'easter.

my neighbor drilled into his gas tank on his car to get more gas for his generator.gas got everywhere lol,and it had traces of water in it so it shot the generator.

I remember when the power came back on,it was a beautiful thing.9 days with no power, street lights, gas pumps etc.i believe the crew that turned it back on were from Kentucky electric.it was 8 o clock at night, pitch black, then all the street lights started clicking on.and after all that jcp&l started coming around taking credit for turning the power back on.

I hope this storm doesn't do that
