do you all think it's worth it to go out to mtk tomorrow? if not mtk, where do you think will be good with this swell direction and wind? surfline, swell inof and magic seaweed all saying it will be decent, are they usually good with these forecasts? i'm freshly to nyc from sf. any info/advice appreciated.
swellinfo is usually pretty accurate. with north winds most of new york will be looking good. when all the forecasts agree, it's usually a good sign, so pick your spot and go.
despite what you think, not everywhere on LI is good with a NE wind..infact i'd say for more than half of the island NE is sideshorish. The more east you go, the less East you want in the wind.

noted. thanks for that tip. i'm actually just about out to mtk right now. checked southampton this morning it it's messy as hell......hoping the wind shift to north cleans it up....else i think i missed it by a day.....tomorrow morning seems like the better call.
figured that would happen..west end was definetly the call, although it never got as big as I had hoped..even at standout sandbars. One thing ive learned from years of surfing here, never, never go east if theres any east component in the wind (unless NNE if its light)..N and NW all the way.
