CEP - how do you sleep?

I used to sleep on my front most of the time. Switched to side/back, pretty much no more heartburn. Also cut a lot of gluten products out of diet - particularly white bread and pastas. Gotta keep the beer though.

The irony in using Steven Tyler to promote heavy living. That guy has abused more drugs than 99% of the world, and even though he's clean now (supposedly *cough cough*) the effects have still lingered on, and it's evident from that disaster of work that he allowed to be done to his face.

I've gotta believe that his plastic surgeon had to be more ****ed up than he is, for making him look that way. He had to be performing that work after mixing a damn near lethal concoction of junk.

Before reading the rest of this thread, I know that a reason Europeans were able to take the world by storm is lactase.

Case in point...during the Chinese Civil War, Western humanitarians (don't see too many Eastern, if any) provided as much milk to the children as they needed.

Many puked and shat themselves to death. Some would say it was a conspiracy, but I guess they thought "who doesn't like milk?"

When my family was living in the warzone hellhole known as Yugoslavia in the 40s and 90s, they were able to live off of milk if not pinned down in a ditch eating grass during one of the classic week-long firefights.

and now you know (imagine that star in space PSA because I am not posting it)...

Cep what exactly do you do? I'm sure this is somthing you already know, but I'll come in anyway.

For starters, i get not wearing a respirator. Granted i don't need one on a daily basis, so when i do need one and don't wear it....i justify it by being a once in a while type thing. I don't even wear dust masks. And those i really should be wearing on some jobs. There are times i go home and it takes about 10 min of blowing my nose and saline to get all the black out of my snot. The power plants i work at have asbestos in allot of areas. I don't do anything to protect myself because I'm not there every day. So i get it, but if your subjected to this stuff daily you really should wear one.

And two. Like i said im sure you know this already. But you need to be sized for your respirator in order for it to work properly. And you really shouldn't have facial hair. It won't create a proper seal if its not sized right or if you have facial hair. Little more complicated then just heading to grainger and picking on up. But if your breathing in nasty crap daily, its worth it. Hell even if you don't get sized and have facial hair, its still gotta be better than nothing. I'm not sure a dust mask will help worth fumes

sounds like we are kind of in the same business.i often don't wear dust masks which I probably should, not everyday tho is breathing in crap, but its more than often.

I'm a structural fabricator I make a bunch of beams then connect it out in the field and turns into buildings and platforms and stuff like that.some days il just be cutting on the saw, drilling holes, nothing crazy.then some days I have to go out and demo a sight so I'm chopping beams down with a torch, grinding and stuff.and a lot of stuff I work with is galvanized, which is like the worst stuff u can breathe, and on occasion youll get galvanized poisoning.another reason why I drink milk.

I do have facial hair so wearing a mask is kind of hard but I don't mind shaving to save some years in the future.2 of the people I work with are lifelong surfers, people in their 50s that been surfing since the 70s and they don't wear masks and stuff like that,so its kind of peer pressure like I wear a mask I'm the little ***** in the shop lol.

I don't think iv been in the trade too long where it affects my surfing,i do feel like it affected my stamina, cause on really long paddle outs on a big swell by the time I get to the lineup I'm somewhat winded but il just sit there for a minute, catch my breath and I'm good as new.but still I don't want to be coughing up flegm for the rest of my life, its not good.

If your working around welding, one of the products from it is polonium a radioactive substance and a poison,yu need air supplied respirators to be safe from inhalation ,lost some workmates to lung cancer ,one of whom never smoked a day in his life but he was a welder back when respirators were not a part of the safety concerns for welders.protect yourself use as much local ventilation to draw it through hepa filter banks and away from you and wear your respirators.

Saw your post CEP, and I have some advise before you go off the deep end with the nexium. I had been suffering from GERD for about 8yrs now and saw all the ads for Nexium on Tv thinking I would give it a go to see if it helped. Committed to a 6 month daily dose and initially it did help and acid levels and discomfort subsided but I began experiencing minor heart palps...so I thought I was good and tried to ween off of it.. big mistake.. I had the worst GERD for almost 2 weeks.. I could hear my heart beat in my throat and could not eat anything.. nothing but acid.. So I went and talked to my GP..and he told me the Nexium was the problem. Because it is a (PPI) is suppresses your acid maker, when you come off of it your acid maker goes into overdrive..additionally my blood test came back showing low magnesium levels which was causing the heart palps. He advised no more Nexium and change my diet and take acute antiacids.... Talk to your doctor. Nexium and other PPI's are for some people and not others. Peace

Very true. So it is with all medicines.

Now, to your case, have you been worked up for Zollingers Syndrome?? Usually, GPs are not good at identifying this. You would need to see a Gastrenterologist.
Zollingers is a hypersecretory syndrome of gastric acid. What you described for yourself may be that, although it is rare. See a GE.
    just opinion.....

I went to a gp for a stomach ache ,said i had gerd ,had me on some stuff that made it worse ,went to a specialist he prescribed a change to my diet and excercise , and to avoid overeating especially if its late in the day,but some folks load up and sit around rest of night wondering why their huge bloated asses dont feel good

Yeah man, Had an upper endoscopy and everything was fine, just minor scar tissue.. Good looking out though. Turns out adjusting my diet helped alot.. less hot sauce, no late night eating, cut back on drinking.. blah blah..Doing a lot better now.

Cep.. GERD is short for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.. GP is short for General Practitioner. Basically your main doctor.. Talk t a doctor before you go down this path... Best of luck bro.

And as for Milk... never touch the stuff.. I mean its meant for Cows..not humans.
