    Bummer!
They're still going to run the site, just no more print.

I haven't picked one up in a while-hard to get on west coast. But that **** was the Bible when I was coming up in NJ.

Just read an article that print is officially dead, just spinning like a fan that has been shut off but not quite still.
Rolling Stone is being sold, Conde Nast, Vanity Fair and several other high gloss mags have been losing money for years on end, investors are pulling the plug. It's all headed to live streaming social media.

ESM was awesome, except it made my hands black with ink. I was wondering why I haven't seen any in a while at the surf shops.

I heard The Exploited is reissuing "Punk's not Dead" with new lyrics to help prevent print media's demise...

ESM was a great mag, better than Surfer IMO but i'm a local news fan. whenever breaking news comes out, i'm always a bit hesitant to buy in until i get the paper the next day. f fake news, it's all over the place - i think that's the one stance everyone can agree on with Trump

the one thing i took the most out of ESM was the shapers. really helped u zone in on who was nearby, and absolutely put my selection of buying boards in more fokus as a result

Cox Media and other big boys are heavy into direct mailers. But as far as subscriptions and advertising dollars, they are headed else where. No longer printed publications.

Print still has its place in the world. I wouldn't want to see print die. I use to sell direct mail advertising. It's still highly effective. These days a good combination of web and print media is where it's at. Too bad they are gonna go all web. Hopefully it doesn't kill their business.

I agree. There's something about holding a magazine in your hands that I'll miss if/when print media completely dies out. A smart and efficient social media strategy will keep them afloat. Gotta get them clicks.

Did you know you can actually smell the women in a Playboy mag? Not so much on computer or phone screen.

Like barstool sports? Not on there. Can't tell if you're being sarcastic ha.

I'll feel sorry for the next generation of men if they don't have the pleasure of finding their old man's Playboy mags.

when I first got into surfing, the free esm mags at the surfshops was my first view into what professional surfing looks like.i didn't get a computer til 2009 or something and didn't learn about surf websites til probably 2011 so the prints were the only thing I could read.

I used to call a phone number for surf reports lol....

I know a few top end mags went out of business like transworld, dont know who else.wehn I was in skool we had a barnes and noble not too far away and would go cut class and read surf mags lol.there used to be like 6 or 8 different mags,i don't know whos still around

True, but only to a point. Those mags were great and certainly opened up a world for us, but doesn't even come close to competing with online content. I honestly don't know whether to be jealous, or very concerned for kids nowadays.
