Mods either need to shut this place down or let it be...this slow painful death is rediculous.

It would be a nice (adult) thing for them to actually set a plan, clear rules, and establish them with us.

For how many people are on this forum it's rediculous they have it divided how it is, as inaccessible on mobile as it is, and generally just have never streamlined their system.

This site is so bad on mobile. Pretty sad in 2017 when a web advertising company owns the site, and they can't even optimize for mobile. I guess they are trying to make whatever money they can while the site goes to ****.

Ghosting an entire thread about bringing members back is just so completely lame and smacks of the worst type of censorship. You think everyone is just gonna fuggedaboutit?

It's exactly this type of post that got me banned last time. Nice knowing you, fellers.

Yeah Clownface was a compelling character so he's relevant. More relevant than Wayne, anyways.

Having Roy back would be fun

The most fun I had on this forum was when one member decided that he "might as well come clean" (that was the thread title), and informed us that he could not swim and then tried to justify paddling into hurricane swell. Good times!

Also, to the gentleman who posted that thread, you're welcome for not calling you out.

    Yup, another SI classic.

And to top it off, he took every punch thrown at him and stuck around anyways.

The newer, kinder, gentler SwellInfo lol

Let them go.....mods. a 3 page thread is not impressive. Our standard is low here.

    Let them go.....

Honestly Bubs, I don't believe they are banned any longer. I mean, they let me, MIS/Stank, Yankee and a host of others come back (albeit under new monikers).

Pretty sure that those who haven't returned are doing so because they're done with this place.

    Can't blame 'em

I think you're right. Shame. What can we do?

My opinion is that everything is already "done", per se. All SI issues came down to 2 things basically:

    1) The election. Caused a huge division and much miscontent, driving posts to become much more vicious and slanderous. It's one thing to call someone a kook because he can't swim, believes in Nibiru or gets his **** thrown in the water. Some of us have thinner skin than others, but we generally work our way through it. It's another thing completely when you call someone out personally for their political or religious beliefs. There's a reason why an adage exists for this.

    2) Administrative changes. Without naming names, all it takes is a New Sheriff in town with a couple of disgruntled and overzealous Deputies frothing to exercise their newfound muscles and attempt to make radical departures to cause a serious fracture in an already shaky foundation.

Throw these 2 facts together at the same point in time, and you have a recipe for The Perfect ****storm.

Solution? I don't know if there is one. We've weathered the toughest part of it, so as long as the political partisanship is kept at a minimum, we should be ok.

But, the plain and simple fact is that this forum is like comparing MySpace to Facebook, or Sears to Amazon. It's an old and dying from of social media comprised mostly of middle-aged adults. And, realistically, there's probably not much that we as members (nor the administrators) can do to change this place to modernize it or make it relevant.

So I'm gonna ride her 'til the wheels fall off.

    Excellent.

Kind of a social media gentrification, if you will.

    Nice critique La_P

The world turns and folks get old. But old surfers have way more disposable income, net worth, mean household equity, than young surfers. Unless your kid is JJF. This site is run by clowns. Bottom line. They should all go to skool and learn how to not kill the goose that laid the golden egg.
