You got a boat? Do some serious fishing in them waters... my ladies getting me a new router for fin boxes and leash plugs... I hate Xmas. It stresses me out. I have to get stuff for other people, they want to get stuff for me, I have to wait to buy stuff for myself that I want/need to find out someone got me something “similar and useless” idk I’m a practical person and holidays are not practical.
I concur. have come to an arrangement over the last couple years with my SO regarding stockings: I will fill my own and she can fill hers. this saves us both from the aggravation of running around trying find all the little things we think the other might want. not too Christmas-y but wildly practical - I can pretty much fill my stocking with a couple laps around the aisles of Harbor Freight Tools.
I do have a boat, just not up there yet. Its a trout lake but was illegally seeded with smallmouth bass so there are no size or bag limits on them. I actually wanted this place as a refuge from the beach and surfing scene. I work at the beach everyday in the summer and get tired of the crowds, heat and noise of it all. You leave here in 90 degree heat and humidity and after a long drive your wearing a flannel shirt on the edge of a cool foggy bay eating a lobster. Idk, I find that refreshing after sweating my ass off day after day in Maryland.
No more "stuff" Got enuff stuff. Been trying to reduce and downsize our stuff. Now dealing with the disposition of our folks' stuff. The sh#t one accumulates in 60 years of marriage... No one really wants it. Have an estate sale, and they take 40%. Collecting things, anything, is a pointless addiction. Go to an antique or estate sale mall and see all the crap that people collect: Coca cola or Disney sh#t, moldy books, creepy dolls, matchbox cars, coins, stamps, post cards, old lunch boxes, silverware, Hummels, Nazi sh#t, etc., etc., ad nauseam... And boats... The best thing about having a boat is when you sell it to some other poor, dumb SOB...
I bought my boat for $1400 had the fun of rebuilding it and use it all the time. I have fed my family from what I harvest using it as a tool to get me to the fish, crabs and clams. Now, buying a $35,000 speed boat for no other purpose than driving in circles a few days a month in summer? Now that would be a happy day when you sell it.
Nice rig! I call them "bridge" cameras - they bridge the gap between a point and shoot and an interchangeable lens camera (DSLR, mirrorless, etc). If you fall in love with photography and decide to move to DSLR later on, just realize it's not a cheap hobby! 300mm lens can run you $1000+ and that's only the beginning. I would usually ask for camera equipment, but I need a new winter suit this year... I'd be ecstatic if my wife came through with a new hooded 5.5/4!
You have a budget grandpa barry?? Don't tell me you're squandering my hard earned social security money on life alerts and bengay
Thanks dude, it’s the nicest camera I have ever owned. We’ll see how it goes, don’t think I could spend $1,000+ a lense so this is right in my wheel house price wise. It cost about the same as a new boart so I have to wait till my B day or next Xmas for one of those.
For useless Xmas, there is a budget. For other things, useful things and occasions, no budget. And we are having fun spending all of your Social Security money--when you retired it will all be gone. Obama rules made sure it goes to members of ISIS, after they blow you up, of course......
