Evaw Evaw Evaw bring all the EC waves Evaw Evaw Evaw

Wave gods exist and they can be appealed too.

we all must take our goto setup and set it adrift into the flat ocean as a sacrafic to the wave gods.

If I didn't get twat for as long as it's been since I've seen a wave I would get a backpage prostitute for the night. That's what Kelly Slaters wave pool is like, a backpage prostitute for surfers, when you haven't gotten the real thing in awhile, you can pull a couple hundreds out of your pocket, and get a couple sessions on flat days.

Kelly is one of the first wave pimps, someone get him a triple crown, a staff, and a Cadillac that plays a jingle when you hit the horn.

Excellent point my great philosopher. I’m planning on creating a wave prostitution ring of my own within the next 10 years. Also if people are sacrificing their go tos. Let me get a good outline first and I’ll shape you a stringerless eps, epoxy, carbon rail/reinforcement replica for a hearty fee of $400.

    Best,

Future wave pimp and replacer of sarificed wave sliding objects.

What if we took away the carbon? Serious question. I actually really want to get my go-to copied.... epoxy and stringerless. Ofcourse the better bet is to go with my shaper who knows the board. But if your doing it for less then 400 I'd give you some business

If I were you I wouldn’t want to do it without the carbon unless it’s like a 5’2”. Flex would be super weird and probably splinter unless you double layer 6oz S cloth.. you want some sort of stringer for a board to bounce back. I could cut you a deal though and we could figure something out. My turnover time is slow because I have another full time job though.

I hear you. I'm just old school and hesitant. Most of my boards are still poly except one. My go to is a 5'8. Got a 5'2 mini sims, stringerless epoxy, that i love. Which is what got me wanting to upgrade the go to to epoxy. But hell, I'd give it a go. Not concerned with turnover time. I'm funding a wedding right now so cash is tighter then usual.... or else I'd of already gone to my shaper. Shoot me a PM. I'd be interested and willing to throw some business your way

What attracts you to epoxy over PU?
    Serious question, Bass.
I have stayed away from epoxy--I rented an epoxy once, in PR, and the two days I kept it were the worst surfing experience for me. I returned it to shop and traded for another PU board.
I find epoxies too chatterly, to light, and squirrley .....

EPS/Epoxy boards need to be dialed in to get the PU/PE feel... the shape, the foam weight, the dims, the glass bill. They all need to be adjusted to get the benefits of EPS/Epoxy without the chatteryness you're talking about.

I go a little thinner, a little longer, and customize my glass schedule to get some flex back, while still being stronger at the same weight.

I can't seem to edit posts anymore...

I wanted to add that the advantages, in order, are... the don't delaminate, they don't ding as easily, and they keep their liveliness longer.

Honestly I like how it holds up. Ive found that the older epoxy boards I’ve surfed have been super chattery but I’ve got a stretch eps, a FireWire, I’ve surfed a few coils and some of fancy stuff and I honestly love them. I do notice chop on really choppy days but I notice it on a pu board as well. I shape eps and epoxy because of VOC and durability. I shape PU blanks and lam epoxy and that has a great feel but it’s just expensive.

My Coils don’t have the chattery issues or problems most people think of on Epoxy boarts. I prefer Poly for my LB but prefer Epoxy for my SB’s.

Like i said, I'm old school. I do like PU. I tried epoxy back when it was new and hated it. But last November i got a mini Simmons shaped. I had a thread on here asking for suggestions, and i got allot of good advice from Mitchell and LB. General consensus seemed to be to go epoxy so i just did and gave it a shot.

After almost 14 months now, the thing looks mint. No dents or dings. So that's a plus. I honestly don't know if i like epoxy though, if have to try the same board in PU and epoxy to decide. But i love the mini allot, so its got me thinking maybe epoxy is worth a shot.

To put things in perspective. My good wave boards are all pretty similar. Pulled in tail and 5 fin boxes. Iv tried them as quads and HATED it. The mini i actually got with 5 boxes to but tried it as a quad first. Never tried it as a thruster. The quad just feels right on that board. Maybe it's the wider/flatter tail? Don't know. Point is somthing that i thought i hated i love on a diffrent design. My step up and everyday good wave board are the same, just beefier dims on the step up. I'll stick with PU on the step up for the added weight on super windy winter days. But the waist-HH board might be worth a shot in epoxy
