m sure most of you guys are familiar with the ( god awful ) pope bisect, which was the original 2 piece surfboard. recently i stumbled upon a new brand making 2 piece surfboards called the Carbon Compact based out of long island. i was skeptical especially after how poor my pope bisect rode. but i went and gave them a call and they explained its a completely different system! so i went ahead and placed my order for a 9' semi performance long board. little less than 3 weeks later the board was done! i took the drive up from Maryland and picked up the board and was astounded at how perfect the fitment and construction was! the sides lined up perfectly and the added weight was minimal. the price is definitely a bit high ( $1500) but still not bad considering these boards are hand made start to finish and it does come with everything from fins to wax to a custom bag so your covered. but what i loved most was how well the board rode. took it to france ( only paid a 35$ bag fee each way cause its not a "surfboard" ;) ) and it rode great in 2-4 foot surf and basically felt exactly like a normal 9' long board. did feel a little odd but it was my first epoxy so im thinking that was the difference. either way any of you guys still dealing with the pope bisect should consider these guys ! cc pic 2.jpg

Should have saved the 1500 for French hookers and just rented a real board during your trip. Dew.

Hey i appreciate the guys input... but he should have posted a link...

And answered all the appropriate questions as listed by headhigh... this is important.

I never had a board like this- but I like the concept to avoid airline fees and troubles... many times I have lugged around boards in an airport and thought a 2peice board would be nice to have, imagine traveling with a board that breaks down to 3 ft!! That would be so easy you could almost consider it a carry on!!

Can you reconnect the two pieces of the board in the water? You could duck dive with the noes section on the paddle out and drag the tail section behind you with the leash haha.

Or just ride a short board lol.

They actually have a couple of shortboards:

It looks kinda interesting, in the past when I was traveling more, I would put some serious thought into this, just the ease and convenience factor... many trips I did where I relied on friends boards (who lived in the destination I was traveling too) or rent a board. usualky ended with old beat up boards... in fact I remember riding a good sized swell at santa Catalina on an old thruster without the back/trailing fin...

Anyways, I'm sure the boards don't ride that great, probably similar to surftechs, which I wouldn't be opposed too if only riding for a week here or there...

I think they are onto something... maybe boards will get better in the future, better materials and all..

You guys should check it out prior to shooting it down...

I know how we don't like sales pitches and all on here. But that's actually my shaper that makes these. That's my shop. I wrote about these on here once. I don't own one, but i tried one out. I'm not kidding, you'd be really surprised with how it works. Technology has come a really long way.

Not saying everyone should run out and get one. I personally don't have a need for it. But the dudes making these are legit. Its no gimmick.
