but they are a waste of time if you don't know how to ride them and the waves arew good . like i would never take one out if the waves were really good i would just surf. because i don't know how to ride them at all
check out the skeleton boy on youtube the guys sick he looks better than machado at riding an alai. search through some swaylocks threads too some guys have been getting prelaminated pine from home depot, they advertise it as a table top, but i know you can them pretty close to alai size about an inch thick and 18 or 19 wide theyre just a little heavier than a real one. but for like thirty bucks its probably worth a try ________ Kawasaki KX250
To each his own you know. People def. don't always agree with me on board choice. Cool Idea just haven't seen that many people excel on them.
I think anything you can bring back or improve one has to be great for surfing. What will be next those 12 foot 100lbs redwood finless planks they use to ride before surfing was called surfing
I usually SUP with an alaia on the deck. once i get on the wave i ditch the SUP and paddle and cruise with so much soulllllll down the line
guys in oc were doing jet ski step offs onto alaias to avoid having to bother paddling in on those pesky little boards.
For starters (although it is now generally believed that few alaias were as large as pictured, i.e., over 8 feet): Source: Finney, Ben R. Surfing in Ancient Hawaii. Wellington, N.Z.: Journal of the Polynesian Society. Vol 68 No.4, Dec. 1959. pp. 327-347. Accessed on the JPS Internet site .
