Yeah it's just too broad of a question. That swell at that interval would be well overhead at the most exposed breaks out here. But, depending on the swell angle, it could be either very good or Wall City. A few miles in either direction, 4' @ 14 secs wouldn't even register a bump...again, depending on angle and especially tide. So our neophyte still has a lot to learn. Probably better to do a search than to register on a forum full of stingy selfish surfers and start asking for the goods.
JoshC, why don't you tell us a little about yourself. What you ride or are trying to ride, any pics of your lady are always appreciated and do you have a van? Once that info has been shared, people are more open to helping a brotha out! Have you tried talking to some of the locals or local surf shops about best times to surf in your area?
Dude seriously...try pulling up into one of those surf shops on the Strait and ask them any info on the local spots and see what happens lol Bassmon and the buoys were cupping your ballsack in comparison to those guys
The boys are right Joshc12321 , take the lashings, enjoy them, shoot Foamies roasted me pretty good when I first went around here asking for tips, I didn’t get a single answer to my original question honestly. But hey, now I may end up surfing with the lad next time he comes around my home break. Unfortunately, if someone has to tell you to relax and we’re all here giving and getting a gentle and l, I mean they’re only words on the inter web so it’s indeed a gentle hazing. Youre gonna end up hanging out and surfing with dudes like jesterface — if you’re taking us jackwagons seriously, you need a vacation and an edible to chill you out. Shoot man, you’re acting like we are telling you we’re going to beat you up, kick your dog, and have Barry_Cudda steal your girlfriend for his collection if you don’t paddle in to 6’ teahupoo at dead low tide undergunned...
I'd recommend paddling out with a tape measure and a stop watch. This way you can accurately gauge how big the swell and interval are. Be sure to turn your back to the ocean when trying to measure the swell height.
Shoot man, having Barry steal your girlfriend is like Wilford Brimley making you tap out with a rear naked choke.
The only time this place ever triggered me was about 5 years ago when I was sarcastically asking how many surf t-shirts you need to be considered a surfer and Slashdog took me seriously and asked if I even surfed... God I was pissed... Now mind you, I've been surfing for 7 whole years and when he said that I had two whole years under my surf belt, so I was a ripper, and a... actually the comment was too close to home. As I gain age and wisdom, I find out what triggers us and really pisses us off are comments and put downs that we probably rightfully deserve.
I'm not from the area, but I would bet 80% of the surf quality in that area depends on tides. I bet you can have a spot go from overhead to flat there in the span of a couple hours. There's pretty much always swell, but the tide swings are probably brutal. Incoming tide is universally better. Just have to figure out what spots work on which end of the tide.
We tried to be nice, and the dude got butthurt when someone gave him direct advise. Now I remember, this is why we haze folks.
For real. And i wasn't even hazing or giving him a hard time. I'm one of the nicer guys on here. At least that's what i like to think. Was just being direct. Questions he was asking can't be entirely answered on a forum. That water knowledge has to be learned first hand.
