Any advice for what seems to be a strained hip flexor. I tweaked it a while ago and I can't seem to shake the pain which also runs to the side of my lower leg. Any thoughts on good stretches and hip muscle building?
Definitely check out theinertia.com. I fractured one of my vertebrae years ago and have found tons of useful stretching videos that work the specific muscles around the area on that sight. Also, if you tweaked it by hyperextension, Continuing to stretch that area can lead to further pain / injury. Rest, a lot of times, is key in that situation.
keep icing it and rest it. it's one of those injuries where even the wrong small movement will re-aggravate it. if you did, you'll notice that particular movements are particularly painful. you've got to be deliberate about not repeating those movements. it just takes time assuming you didn't tear it badly.
Thanks for all the advice I will check back, it is going to take a while to put into practice all the advice since I need to do the following (not sure of the correct order) ice/heat/stretch/no stretch/smoke/opiods/suppositories/surgery/acupuncture//mud/duct tape/tussin/rest/allergy shots/wd40
Get a foam roller... do some stretching, take ibuprofen religiously for a week while you’re doing it. Sit in a hot salt bath.
Don't listen to any of these guys. They don't know what they are talking about. You only have one option. Cut it off.
