I'd probably invest in a walker with tennis balls.

Obviously it depends on how bad the injury is, but your best case scenario is going to be a combination of rest, followed by working it back into form with some PT type exercises and stretching before putting full load back on it again.

Surfing might be a tough sell for a bit - going from prone to standing requires quite a bit of hip flexor usage. Check out websites that detail hip flexor PT, but its probably going to be a lot of stretching, theraband work for lateral resistance, and finally activities that slowly allow usage. Bike for cardio should be fine.

If it hurts to run or side shuffle, you're probably in for 3-4 weeks rest&PT. Worst case scenario is probably scar tissue that might need to be broken up by an actual PT opposed to home-effort type stuff. Don't put yourself in situations where you'll need >50% effort (sprinting, surfing, HIIT classes, crossfit, etc.) until you regain confidence in it.

Or like others suggested, you could just amputate.

The best way to work a hip flexor is by banging. Bang more and it will feel better.

    Can I hijack a bit?

This summer I was sarfin sebastian inlet and messed up a flailing layback... my trailing arm got jammed into the wave face (I’m goofy going frontside so my left arm). It pulled my arm way back. Couldn’t lift my arm much above chest level sideways or front. Hurt really bad. I kept stretching it daily and by the fall I was surfing again in all my glory for our amazing NJ season. My shoulder still hurts and when I stretch I can get it to the same distances as my right but I have to kinda work around a part in the flexibility where it sticks and hurts. Didn’t have insurance at the time so I was afraid to go see a doc. Anyone know what it could be?

Not sure what it is. But probably just taking forever to heal, if there has been improvement. I have had issues over the years with my arm, shoulders and back and found that it could take up to a year to really heal cause we use them so much... but workouts with light really light weights has helped, at least for rotator... there is also something called nurses elbow that happens to kids...maybe adults? Idk

Or it could just be a bad case of the SARs or a mild allergy. Just take some Metamucil and you'll feel better...

It is similar to mrz1's ailment... You have shoulder AIDS just like he has hip AIDS... It's unfortunate, but you will be dead soon as well.
