There has been some talk about this place in the past and I have heard a few people say it's super sharky... How do you know, have you surfed there and seen a bunch of sharks, have you fished there and caught a bunch of sharks, or did you have the one eye'd old dude at your local break tell you? Just wondering.
There used to be this old "picker" type dude in LB. I think his name was Gary. Maybe. Any way he didn't surf anymore. But he was on that boardwalk every damn morning watching the surf. For a dude who didn't surf, he really knew what was going on out there. Best spots to paddle out. Best/most consistent peak. That sort of thing. I'd always sit and talk with him as the douche bag kids would run up yelling "hey Gary where's the best peak?". He'd point somewhere down the beach and turn to me and point right out front or whatever and tell me to "shhhh". He had this super high tech device he designed. It was a plastic bag tied to the railing on the board walk. It would tell him what direction the wind was blowing. Any way, this has nothing to do with shark island. But he was old. And awesome. Hadn't been to LB in awhile. I wonder if he still shows up morning. That was one cool/smart/wierd/old guy.
Looks like a legit tow-in spot, seen some pix of that lineup with some liners wrapping around that shoal. Looks legit but I've yet to see photographic evidence of anyone surfing thete.
I’ve been wondering about it for years... everytime I drove across the bridge I would scrutinize and slow down... I heard an good looking old guy talking about it once... said it’s mysterious island with sea monsters, megaladons and fake pointbreaks....If you had someone willing to drop you off at the gated pull off and come pick you up later no biggie. I’d really like to sarf it
how bout homeboy shotgunning a beer on shore hahahaha I've driven that bridge a million times and definitely seen some liners but it never looked big enough to try to make it out there. Apparently its all protected and even walking on the beach could get you arrested, water entrance and exit only. Who knows.
Every time I have driven across that bridge- I wonder about that spot! It looks like it breaks perfectly but only have seen it sizable on very few occasions- and I mean sizeable as waist to chest high. Usually it looks knee high. I did see some guys surfing it one time, by boat... heard it's the only way to get there since like some kind of protected land??? Idk I don't live nearby... I'm a Belmar local, in case you where uninformed....
Wait a second.... Whoa! 0:22sec on the video Could it be? The man The myth The legend?!? Shred machine!?! Corey P!
