Pretty much the same here. Made my first board in 1989. Took some breaks along the way. I'm somewhere in the 30s at this point. Still do a couple a year.
board I had the most fun on was a garage-made stinger fish made by a friend (RIP). He had only shaped about 10 boards prior to this, so the rails were funky (to say the least) and, since he cut it out of a regular shortboard blank, there was basically no nose rocker. It was a paddling beast and could generate speed even in significant mush...closest thing to a longboard substitute I've ever had. The best pro-shaped board I ever had for small waves was a Rusty Piranha. Incredible paddler and more wave size range than my homemade board, but not quite as fun in the smaller stuff. I currently have a Roberts Mutant but it's more of an HP board for better (non-mush) waves.
An '82 Sunshine by Claude Codgen pretty similar to this single fin of coarse, best Florida board ever
