Conservatives would buy the beach, put a giant hotel on it with a golf course that dumps crap in the O, and employ sketchy beach service guys to clean up the trash and keep the rest of us out. A nice clean beach, all privatized and sterilized. But the water sucks. Liberals would camp on the beach, bury their shit and their dogs' shit in holes, and get run off eventually by the cops. The poop would get washed into the ocean, and the water still sucks.
My wife's always picking up garbage on the side of the road and making me clean it up and fix it for her. JUST ONCE I'd like her to bring home a cheerleader/pole dancer in need of a good cleaning and a shot of penicillin...
Back in the late 60's, even though desegregation had already taken place, carloads of black people were usually on the southside of the pier, usually about 50 cars with many occupants to each one. A car would occasionally drive onto the northside of the pier, just to check out what we were doing. They primarily kept to themselves on the southside, hanging by their cars up near the dunes, eating, profusely sweating, while listening to radios. Most wouldn't enter the surf. Occasionally you might spy one or two wade in up to their knees or maybe thighs and splash some water to cool down, but they were too scared to go any further and would quickly head back up to their cars. All was kosher until they started tossing their chicken bones onto the sand up by their cars, so many that the seagulls couldn't even manage to remove all of them. Repeated warnings failed to stop the stupid, lazy practice. High tides scattered the bones all up and down the beach, both sides of the pier and into the surf. It began to become a serious problem... After enough people stepped on the bones and got them lodged in their feet, with some contracting salmonella poisoning from all, the beach was permanently closed to vehicles, causing quite a bit more strife... The black people vanished along with their chicken bone littering, but the salmonella danger from the hordes of bones remained. The tides continued to uncover more of the bones for quite some time, posing a risk to all. "Dog crap" can carry many pathogens like salmonella, including E Coli, giardia, parvovirus, tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, heartworms, and burying it about a foot doesn't get rid of the pathogens. Best to keep it and other trash far away from the surf.
