Just me or does anyone else hear

stupidest gayest thing I ever heard.

I heard laurel for the record.

they said if u heard yanny that means ur more intelligent than the average person,but all I heard was go phuck yoself so I must be even smarter lol

 

This morning I was able to hear either one at will, now it's just laurel. Im scared now.

 

I only hear Laurel, but I thought I heard Yanny when the volume was down, the first time I heard it, before putting the volume higher.

I actually first heard it on the news the other night and it was clearly Laurel.

I watched one of those videos (might have been that one linked in here), where someone explains that if you mess with the frequencies, you'll hear Yanny and other times it will sound like Laurel. I actually watched two of them that were supposed to explanation videos where they dissect it. It seems with standard frequencies, I'm only hearing Laurel.

My hearing is aging a lot faster than the rest of me. I figure after years of live music (both performing and spectating) and close to 90-100 live NHL hockey games per year over the last 7 years, my 47 year old ears are probably on par with an average 60 years old's.

 

My 47 year old ears hear Yanny. I thought it might be an age thing but I guess it isn’t.

 

It may also just be what our devices are set on at the time we listen to it. If you mess with your frequencies a little bit (if you're able to) you might hear Laurel.

From the videos I saw where they break it down, when you hear Yanny it's a bit high pitched, while Laurel is a deeper tone.

My best friend/roommate is 41 and his ears are worse than mine. He basically hears oral (LOL) and coral. He goes ''Is it oral? Or coral?''.

 

Definitely oral.

So basically it's a dog whistle, and a fresh new way to deliver fake news.

Ok, well I figured it out. The more clearly you can hear the sound it says laurel. The more distant or quiet it is you'll hear Yanny. So if you turn the volume way down and creep it up slowly you will hear Yanny but as the volume increases it will turn into laurel. For the same reason the lower register of a male voice is easier to hear the higher Yanny frequency is drowned out by the resonance of the lower frequency as the volume increases.

 

Primed subliminal perception/audio stimuli. A threshold exists between subliminal and supraliminal perception (subjective/objective thresholds).
