There's no such thing as a gateway drug, only gateway people.

Looky here, most of the world has consumed alcohol at one point of time.

According to the gateway theory, being exposed to a mind-altering substance will cause a person to seek out "harder" drugs. Alky-hol is much more psychoactive than weed.

So considering that a majority of the world has consumed alky-hol, a great deal of them would now be in that Wilmington, NC alley by Erock's house doing the crack.

That ain't the case.

How did that turn out? Stuff's more potent, cheaper and more available than ever. Actually, now there's barely any straight D out there as it is all synthetics.

All our popular drugs of ill-abuse have been illegal for quite some time, long before Nixon's War on Drugs, which was really aboot going after Nixon's enemies - the black militant types(the inner city heroin craze of the late 60's and 70's) and the white anti-war protestors with their weed, LSD and speed.

Prohibition doesn't work. Plain and simple. Maybe in another hundred years some of y'all will figure that out.

Besides, the whole world is on drugs: Booze, Ambien, Xanax, smokes, coffee...

I love the people who say they don't do drugs as they start the day with some adderall, swill coffee and smoke cigs all morning, switch to Mt. Dew in the afternoon, insulin shot after lunch for their type 2 dieabeetus, and finish off the day with a couple 4 lokos and some ambien.

They are the ones locking up my friends for getting pulled with a seed and a couple stems.

Most don't realize decaf coffee (what I drink) contains a small % of caffeine. Sometimes I drink it, other times I abstain for long periods of time, years even. Being that I abstain from most foods/drinks with caffeine, when I start drinking my decaf again, I can instantly detect its presence and the effects.

This was my point. Most advocates for legalizing weed have stated that cartel violence could be stemmed by legalizing it here in the States. That's foolish thinking, because of the reasons you stated above and I agree with you. Cartels gonna be cartels.

Either way, I don't give a shit. I'm gonna smoke it whether it's legal or not. Let the cartels off themselves, they need to be culled and it keeps the business lean and efficient.

Sorry, but....I don't smoke, neither pot nor cigarettes.
I don't do drugs unless injured sufficiently to be prescribed something. Then I dump the leftovers.
I rarely drink alcohol. Rare beer 2x/year (may have one this weekend.)
Been like that for 45 years.

I am 67 yrs of age and can still get out and out surf all of you. And that is because I don't consume the garbage you all ingest, inhale, snort, mainline, and stick up your butts.
