Ahhh, more of a 70's counterculture thing that doesn't really play these days.

Posers like Grain try to be soul but it's fake. Alex Knost is probably the closest thing to being soul these days, and Joel Tudor to a certain extent.

Just give it some time, since surfing is a olympic world wide sport its guaranteed to become even more political.

The Chinese olympic surf team could really use a lecture from youz guyz about how great communism is and how freedom is over rated.

    Youz guyz are wet noodles!
    I'm a stable genius!

It’s very odd at first mate, when the chambers fire a three wave set the waves don’t slam up, the water level drops like 3 feet by the chamber wall and you take about two big scoops for paddles and take off, the 1st and 3rd waves of the set are the easiest to get. The 2nd wave creates this massive boil right before it pops up and if you aren’t right in front of it the pump will straight up suck you under water it’s kind of freaky... as far as the wave goes it’s awesome, as far as progression is concerned. No surprises, the same perfect wave each and every time. The waves are fast and strong like they are in the pacific and they fizzle out exactly how they would in the ocean leading from the reef to the open ocean. The bottom is a mix of this super algae covered liner and concrete. If you bail too soon and you stand on the liner you can’t walk and your chance of getting hit by the goober on the next wave sky rockets. Simply because you can’t stand up our you’ll literally be sliding on the liner. They shock that pool a lot because of their algae issue so I ended up smelling bleach for like the next three days outside the pool. All in all - getting to surf and with chyenne Magnusson and receive some coaching from him as well, the entire experience was a 10/10 man. I recommend trying it out.

Sounds like the Texas wave pool has a couple of small technical issues to overcome, but glad you got the goods, that's a suite little barrel shot for sure

Theirs a lot of truth to what you say'n; a few years ago spoke to Chad Nelson, CEO of Surfrider Foundation in O.C., MD. Adding up all the "surf industry" companies only a few companies support SR and/or any ORG thats mission goal is to preserve surfing/surf break or best practices to beach replenishment to preserve sand bars. When you consider the millions of "Sponsor" dollars spent on top tens and contests shame we're on the bottom end of the food chain.

Im coming to your next meeting at the green turtle, i will be dressed as a clown!

I never understood how important organizations like the surfrider foundation were until recently when you see that they actually get good things accomplished. since they are re doing the OC inlet the surfrider foundation should get involved In the process. this is a once in a life time OC event that could give us a EastcoastClass worldclass surf break. BTW absolutely no stepoffs at the new inlet, im claiming it as my spot right now "DIBS" of course i will let everyone surf there when ever they want, except for stepoffs!

They ain't redoing anything. They are thinking about "conducting a study" and can't even agree on who should pay for the non-federal share. Its obvious what the problem is (both from a surfing and navigational standpoint) its been obvious for years, and they cant even agree to spend a few hundred thousand dollars on what is a major problem that is only getting worse. I won't even touch the SRF part....except to say dont hold your breath.

what is this thread about? Industry types? If you mean paying more than $550.00 for a surfboard, than I'm with you. Who are industry types? A dude walks up, starts shaping shi$$y throwback esque shapes and puts $800 + tags on it, that's pretty industry to me, esp having no reputation or experience to back up the product. Firewire, is that industry? I wouldn't mind paying, shapes are well developed and boards are tough. (PSA: The cool surfer dude needs to go the way of the DoDo, and again, for all my East and Gulf Coast brothers, sisters, trans, cis, nonbinary, and undeclared, stop getting hipster shapes that Do not work anywhere other than the soft west coast rollers.)

a lot locals got fed up with them losing focus on local issues. OC Surf club is a good replacement. OC focused and is a good mix of conservation AND access.
