I actually like to hang out at the beach. Hang out on the jetties, rocks and coves. Drink coffee and beer, eat donuts, sandwiches and jo-jo's. Talk story with the local crew and compare shapes. I can watch the ocean for hours, even during Victory At Sea. What's wrong with you guys lol
I hear you man, the view never gets old. But circumstances with work and family are keeping me in PA more and more lately to the point where I may have to make the move there permanent. Or at least until I can retire in 5 years. My sister and parents live in PA and she has been taking care of them while raising her kids and working. She needs help so I have to do my part in helping her with the old folks. My ma and pops are still with it mentally but have severe physical limitations. Plus all my work is in PA now and the drive keeps getting worse every year. Throw in my wife's parents live in western PA and are also getting old and it just seems practical to make the move. The ocean ain't going anywhere.... Yet.
Yeah dude I feel ya, currently having issues with the mother-in-law's health. Thought I'd be smart and live on the coast to avoid the usual in-law hassles. Now it looks like all the in-laws are gonna strike from their inland lairs so the entire family can be on the coast. Definition of "mixed emotions": watching your mother-in-law drive over the cliff in your new car. Or move within blocks of your residence. Or move in, period. But we gotta make the sacrifices, amirite? Keep surfing
When I am not helping my family, I am doing the same, except for the beer part. If I did, I would not find my way home. Unfortunately, the older one gets, the less surf peers there are. The younger ones haven't a clue--they are stupid. So I watch the bikinis while the young men around here all hold each others puds comparing their surf clothing style. Surfers really have become gay. It's definitely NOT like it "used to be".
I'll SUP around on flat days, mostly for the workout, but also to feel the ocean under me, and it is really beautiful out there on clear water days.
I’ll freak out and end up like clown face if I don’t stay near water. I can agree with beer drinking, fishing, and bikinis all in the same breath. Other than that being in Oc - it’s seasonal so this is the time to make hay while the sun is shining so to speak. Work keeps me tied up for atleast 30-60 hours a week. So time for leisure is something I have to be very grateful for when it’s available. As Barry said, kids are super gay with the way they judge each others surf clothing style.... speaking of.
First, I make a huge, super strong gin and tonic and throw together some snacks. Booze and snacks are top priority on beach days. Then, I go to my secret pender county beach spot and set up an umbrella. Finally, I get pretty toasted relaxing in the shade and checking out the latest bikini trends.
I was going to type a one word, 4 letter answer, but I respect Betty too much... Plus, my wife knows who I am on this site, so it (the 4 letter word) wouldn't happen out of principle...
