    Brethren,

Our wise elder Barry enlightened in another post, albeit randomly. Nonetheless, a very worthwhile discussion amidst semi rational ego driven men.
The conversation at hand gentlemen is, surf style... within the surf culture we are blessed yet cursed with tons of variations to the style in which one could deem ‘ The Surfer Look ‘. I’ve seen kids I know who come from prestigious families and grew up in private school, adopt this absurd punk rebel like look. Playing god awful music in attempted edits that isn’t even beat matched to anything in the production to give it any sort of fluidity . God awful crap honestly - to me, maybe it’s subjective maybe it’s not .
That being said, I have an objective stance to this style (or maybe people) because it seems fake as shit. Regardless of if you’re pulling airs or what not , you’re acting outside your character for your peers which is lame no matter what lol.
Not to mention regardless of what the hell you classify yourself in the realm of the sport. Be it longboard, funboard, no board, metard, whatever - the subcultures within a single sport seem to always be judging one another and I find it’s more common in the really young crowds but either way, as Barry mentioned. It’s just frickin gey.
What are your thoughts? What would you classify your style? Don’t care? Me either, but I figured it would be better than the guy who is talking about making fun of people for supporting big industry surf corps.

Suite pic. You get extra style points for the cool blue board. Also. Drop the back knee a bit to allow your body to shift to be looking out of da barrel....it will get your ass and hip out of da lip You have posted pics of you getting shacked before which is killer. I think Barrel riding is an art and my favorite part about surfing.

Thank you for the pointers - I hate that poop stance look I’ve been working super hard to fix it. If I drop and am able to bend that knee more it should open up and square my shoulders a bit more forward right??

Yea man I have been fighting it for 35 years lol. I tend to do the butt like I'm boxing someone out on the b ball court...especially on steep backside drops. How I position my back foot/leg/hip makes a huge difference for me. Instead of bending forward (poop stance), I tend to arch my back to much. I always hated it and worked on it ( obviously for style points). It was and has been a natural tendency for me...it's my stylee! Dropping my back knee back in the day was like an epiphany for me...really changed the way I surf (even on turns). Btw, no offense I was just mentioning it. ANy tube time is a beautiful thing!

Haha dude I enjoy talking about these things... you’re speaking to a guy who hit up Flynn Novak and Shane beschen online for consulting and pointers. I can’t even ask my crew I surf with what I need to do because their a,) in the water with me b.) probably don’t want to try and tell me what I need to change for fear of making me discouraged or feel bad haha. Which is why I’ve resorted to filming myself
