They don't, and eventually the board is ruined and they come on the internet to complain about how much a new one is.
i see the phrase authorized firewire repairmen advertized online so i figured they must need lots of repairs . not yours of course but someones
Bert did say there is an art to peeling the foil off the construction grade foam he started out using
I do have a pu board i got in 1979 that im still ridin ,on its 3rd glass job which i did change over to epoxy
Walmart will start sellin em soon or maybe sams club and costco, stack em right next to the wavestorms
I think every shaper/surfer relationship is unique, every shop sells different boards at different prices. The shaper tipping was because the boards were underpriced and it was beer. I do tip the glasser/sander/ding repair guys. Cash they need. I get polished gloss/channel bottom/double-wing swallow/glass ons.
One of the guys i know works at boatyard ,he saved the castoffs from foam they would pour for floatation He cut the pieces into strips and made a blank with them ,glassed it with polyester when i asked him how much it cost him to build it he said like 38 dollars
Ive repaired a lot of boards over the years but never a firewire Maybe when folks ask me if i will fix their firewires i shouldnt go into a long rant about them being indonesian pos
Lol Yeah you should, it’s always a good reminder. Although you should pick a country and stick with it. You’ve called them Chinese and Indonesian all in the same conversation.
