Anyone remember (The Sand Paper) "a slightly gritty little paper that might rub you the wrong way" ? That was a True NJ based magazine I published back in the mid nineties. It was pretty awful but I did have 75 subscribers that paid $10 a year, came out twice a month, lol! I need to dig up some of those and upload them.

Ah Zippy they used to have them sand dollars at surfs unlimited and the pier 18 mall shop back in the day

 

No way! That can't be my mag, I don't think I ever sent out more than 10 at a time to one place. I think I had a free version in three shops, but for the life of me I can't remember which. Whatever shops they were in, they were the shops off the beaten path, not the busy beach front shops, I never had the nerve to try to get them in those. I imagined that the mag would get so big they would be begging to get it. Folded it up long before that and even refunded some subscription $$ when I got burned out from the whole ordeal. It's a good memory for me though!

 

Nah they were mags that employees or customers would leave in the shop for others to check out. I distinctly remember thumbing through a couple of them at Surf Unlimited(RIP) on the Long Buried Island

print media is dying (rip surfing magazine). social media has taken over. branding and product fatigue will always be a challenge in the surf industry. eh-specialy in the surf "fashion" industry. (volcom, quicksilver, body glove, hot tuna, gotcha, etc).

see that y'all got clothing, prints and a magazine. i hope you guys are successful, i really do but it seems like y'all are pushing those products and i don't see anything the average 14 yr old grommet wants. you know they are the ones keeping shops afloat these days. kids with mommy and daddies money to spend. its like you have the sears business model going on.
