www.follysurf.blogspot.com I'm going to start posting a lot of photos from Folly Beach SC. Mostly from the Washout. Had to send my wetsuit back to Oneil so I'll be outta the water for a while. Depressed. But thought I'd whip out the zoom lens and capture some photos. Every time there is a good swell I'm going to try and get out to the Washout to get some pics. I dont have the best photo editing software...Windows Photo Editor...but if someone wants a small portfolio put together let me know. I have some pictures up right now from the Hanna swell from way back to just see what my pics look like. Check it out. All comments welcome. Anyone know of some good editing software like Photoshop etc. and some techniques. I know..very broad topic but if you have some advice for surf related photo editing I would appreciate it. amped this is good. the few amounts of pics you have right now are nice. this is a good thing for folly. we have never really had good photographer on the reg. do you have an email? Im sure if the waves get good enough my friends and I would be down to hook you up with some money for a session
yea I've always thought the same thing why we don't have any consistent photographers. I've been surfing here for bout three years while I've been at school and I've only seen one lady who takes pics on the semi reg. I'll be on the beach now while the suit is at oneil takin pics. Here's my email mcassidy.cofc@gmail.com. Probably seen you out in the line up but hit me up next swell. Anyone else too.
Follywaves.com First I'd like to clear up that....that lady on the beach is Nancy Hussey and her pics post on Follywaves.com and for the most part she has been the only consistant photographer out there representing The Washout surfers since 2001! Lots of people talk a good game about taking pics but first off you can't get everyone and you will find that it's a lot harder to take 1,000's of pics and post them! One other thing on Follywaves.com you can send a request to Nancy to see if she has taken any pics of you and she will make a CD of all your pics for only $20 which is a lot cheaper than any other offer....one pic on Smugmug will cost you more than that!!! So don't knock that dedicated lady taking pictures on the beach....it's a lot harder than you think!! Best of luck trying to take pics of everyone and I hope no one talks trash about you....make sure you are there for every good swell taking pictures all day long so no one can say you aren't "regular". Merry Christmas!!!
To Surfchic: I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or take peoples places, especially Nancys. Seems like she has more experience than me and I'd like to possibly take some tips from her. The photo print deal that follywaves offers was something I didnt know about. I also didnt know where Nance posted her photos, now I do. Theres enough drama out in the lineup I dont want to see drama between photographers. In no way was I taking shots at Nancy or any other photographers of folly. I was saying in my previous post that I havent seen her in a long time. I'm not saying, "****, where is that lady that takes pics I wanna see myself surfing." Just havent seen her in a while. That being said, I know its difficult to capture every single surfer at their best moment. No photographer can accomplish that in the amount of time a folly swell stays around. My intention is to try (key word try) and take some different types of photos folly surfers havent seen. Some different perspectives and angles. Photography is a passion of mine. In no way am I trying to make money off of this or get attention. If i was trying to make money I'd use smugmug and charge the people I surf with up the ass for photos. I just want to take some pictures of the surf scene at Folly. I felt it right to let people know where I post pictures because I know people wonder when they see a photographer on the beach where they post pics. Obviously I am not going to be out there every swell, especially when I get my wetsuit back and college gets going after break. But every time I am out there even if its to surf and I got my wetsuit back, I am still going to try to take a few pictures before and after a session Hope everything is cleared up and you know what my intentions are. Surfchic if you'd like to speak more in depth here is my email: mcassidy.cofc@gmail.com
