I find the tide graph more useful than the table because it shows relative amplitude and height between the "theoretical" high/low times. As others have stated I also like being able to see the tide graph with the surf forecast for the whole week. The updated swell graphic is an improvement over the swell table so I can agree there is no need for the swell table. As far as wind, I would prefer a week-at-a-glance forecast format rather than having to hover over the individual data points. A combined weekly wind table/wind graphic is probably the most user friendly. Thanks for listening and for a great website.
What would be awesome would be a geo location tracker, where I could add a filter, say 100 miles, or 25 miles, and then it would not only send me my local site prediction, but the best possible waves and conditions within that range, so it could just steer my lazy ass right to the best peak of the day, at the optimal tide, three days in advance. Kinda like AI of surf predictin' I know you guys have the skills.
My forecast/report has been saying the water temps for my local has been 59 degrees since the format changes. Froze my balls off last week in a 3/2 in 53 degrees. Other sites are showing more accurate and up to date temps. Is anyone else having this problem?
Yeah gotta pay attention to every single detail out here on any given day, shit fluctuates wildly. Steady NW winds during the summer will drop water temps 5-8 degrees any given day, it fucks up our warmer Japanese current. I'll never trunk it here, but I can live with that because we've got other benefits that balance it out
The coastal buoy 46211, just off of Grays Harbor came back online in your area, so I switched the ocean temps to go off of this buoy, which should be pretty accurate. Previously, that buoy was down, so the Satellite derived dataset was used. This dataset is very accurate, but it lags behind about 1 to 2 days, which as you know, water temps can shift quickly with changing currents. You should be solid now, by using the current water temps based off of 46211.
Fantastic. Lol I was curious as to why SI was pulling data from the Columbia River buoy instead of 46211, and you just answered that question. Thanks again for your hard work and dedication!
Your welcome! I receive notifications when buoys come back online, so either 46211 just came back online or there maybe a problem with my notifications, which I'll have to look into.
The update to Swell info destroyed this site. What is/was anyone thinking!? Wow how do you go from the best site for forecasting to the worst overnight!? Fix or cease to exist.
Do a majority of commenters work for this site? how do people support this, what is the point of supporting this UI / UX change that is not functional on the web or mobile?
OMG...reading through the comments on this thread, what BS. I've used this site for years and have never had a need to comment....so apologies for being unknown. But swellinfo is (unfortunately) committing suicide.
