I received a nice Blu Ray home theater system for xmas, anyone know of any good surf movies in Blu Ray format? The only ones I am aware of are The Pursuit (nah...heard it's lame) and Step into Liquid (nope...ruined the Endless Summer / Bruce Brown legacy in my opinion)...
The Pursuit is actually pretty good. A lot of underrated surfers ripping; Guduskas Brothers, Sebastian Zeitz, Travis Mellum. I don't know what your idea of a good surf film is but I would try Modern Collective (haven't seen it), Pursuit, and Days of the Strange (Stranger then Fiction's extra footage) was really good. You can probably use your goofy blue ray or 3D goggles or whatever modern technology makes your TV better than everyone else on these newer flicks. Always out to lend the helping hand, -SLADE DAWG
Had the Pusuit for over a year and its a good flick. Never seen Step Into Liquid but since you seem to pass judgement on films before actually viewing them, it probably wont matter what I suggest. You might want to try a film called "Blue Crush" or "Point Break" on VHS. They might be more your speed. Kook.
Wow...I didn't know my simple request for a recommendation would piss someone off so much... I've never seen Pursuit but heard from a few people that it did not have enough surfing footage, too many interviews....And I bought Step into Liquid when it first came out and sold it on Ebay because it is terrible. Not enough quality footage..that movie is truly made for kooks I believe.. Point Break is an awesome movie I don't know what your talking about. Maybe made for kooks but you have to love Busey in that flick and Keanu's terrible acting.
step into the liquid WAS an awful movie. I agree... None of these are in Blue-Ray but CHeck out: Bustin Down the Door <--my favorite Uluwatu: 32 Years Surfing Indonesia Surfer's Journal: Curren/Slater The Collection to name a few on my top list.
