Fat POS didn’t even back off when he sees the kid is IN...it’s one thing to mess up and drop in but when you see you HAVE, pull the hell out. I’d have dropped an atomic elbow on him by the last frame.
And it’s shite like this that ruins my arguement against hardcore localism... and then these idiots will be the ones to cry the loudest.
Tell him to go to Wellfleet next week, waves will be pumping

Perfectly allowed to back paddle boogers.

Chances are he paddled out along the pier.. like you’re supposed to

I have been paddling out beside piers for 35 years...I know the drill. Point being is he probably paddled out on his sponsored out stick and the dude was already out there and he took off thinking he was entitled to the wave. Just b/c you paddle out next to pier does not give you priority...now, I will concede that since he is a sponger it is a bit different lol. But, guaranteed the kid is a little entitled brat grom. I can't stand a little grom that shows no line up sense.

nope, not when you back paddle or paddle out next to a pier. If you back paddled me seal and had position, I would drop in you...just saying, no offense, you seem like a cool dude.

who knows what happened in the pic...I was just speculating on the dry hair and the sponsors that he is a little spoiled grom! I love the grom's reaction though...

Edit: if you looked like JB Gomes, I would probably "give" you priority

Anyone who doesn't back paddle a 330 lb, 45 year old boogie boarder in a bright red rashguard is a kook.

Young kid on a sup kept doing that to me during Sesh this summer. First thought he didn’t mean it. Second and third time, just ignorance so I paddle out to him and politely said that wasn’t cool... to which he promptly says “you don’t own the waves guy, whoever gets it first..” so obviously his parents are douchecanoes who didn’t teach him a thing.
Next wave, here he comes again. I had the shoulder tight so he came right by... and the nose of my long board just happened to snag his leash... and then I happened to run him over.
    He left.

I snaked a wave by accident yesterday - it was a good one too - so I let the dude have the next two, clean. But that’s just me...

Hahaha this is getting good. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt on 1st offense. I may get mad for minute but then I let it go. Or I may say something to let them know either they were out of line or to warn them it won’t happen again. But the NEXT time? Then we may have a problem. Thankfully, anybody I have ever barked at went down the beach away from me with not much of a problem.

I don't care if the kid back-paddled, side-paddled, shape-shifted, or was dropped into position by his dad's personal helicopter. He's in the right spot. Fatty McFattelstein is not.

what CyC said. The kid is slotted and the sponger is dropping in on the shoulder.

The pier is not a factor. Believe it or not the Easterns Contest was going on between the pack of surfers I was shooting and the pier. I was shooting the competitors as they free surfed the next peak down the beach. I'm shooting with a big lens from waaaay down the beach to get the angle with the pier in the background and setting the camera to get maximum depth of field. Sucks the pier right into the shot.
