Now you have proven the thread question Double... yes. We now are. And I can never scrape this image out of my eyes. We are all lessened by this. I need xonciling ...Xanax and counciling
idk from my experience the coolest bunch I ever meet is always in the mornings, anytime its afternoon or evening seems all the douches come out.never had a gopro,i think it would be cool for certain shit, surfing mediocre waves that's a no.sometimes il take a little video on my phone and if someone gets a good one id hoot and holler if they wanted a pic that I happened to take I wouldn't mind sharing,id want it lol
My wife takes pics of me and my bludz. I like pics, and if she gets one of the bludz, they like it when I share with them. She doesn't post them on any social media, just kept as files. It is, for me anyway, that GoPro is completely played out on You Tube where a bunch of gacks take it out in 3 ft mush and have it pointed directly at their faces. I just can't take it anymore, it just looks horrible. Second worse? Same gacks in same 3' slop with their HeroCam pointed down the line. Still looks like dog taint, but still a step up from having it pointed at the arse. But, I think GoPro looks great when you're good enough to be sponsored and you're mouth mounting or hand-held at places like Skeleton or Chopes.
My dad enjoys taking pictures. It's a hobby of his. Usually at the race track. But he comes down on good swells. I don't ask him, he will ask me if there are any good days coming up. Anyway, he takes a ton of photos. He'll snap pictures of everyone. And he'll flag you down as you get out of the water and offer to send pics to an email if he knows he got some good ones of you. No charge or anything. Or if he goes home and sees he got some good ones of somebody, he'll remember ther board or face and offer the pics if he ever sees you again. I actually really don't like when he comes though. He enjoys it and it's sort of a way for us to bond. So i don't have the heart to tell him to stay home. But man it does mess with me. Getting pictures is cool. But i don't need them. But if i know he's on the beach with the camera, it suddenly becomes a priority. Not even a priority. Hard to explain. Basically I'll get a good one and look back towards the beach and I'll see him shooting at a diffrent peak or at like a bird or somthing. Then im just like WTF! It's like the thought of getting pictures is there, so although i don't need them, i want them suddenly. If it was any other photog i don't even give it any thought. I don't care. But with him i know I'll see the pictures. That's my pops. So i expect them. Then get frustrated or disappointed. He often will come down after im already in the water. So he won't walk down far enough to find the peak im on or somthing. Then I'll start paddling to a different lesser peak just to try and get his attention. And at that point im not surfing. It's weird. My wife will take pictures and she'll only take pictures of me. It's cool. But she'll only come down based on weather, not waves. But she's gotten some really good ones. My dad has gotten really good ones too. He's set up its way better. Getting good pictures is definitely cool. But id rather get them unexpectedly then to expect them and not get them.
You try to take my picture and I'll rip the camera from your hands and smash it on the pavement. Just like ole James Caan in The Godfather.
I agree. I'm not trying to be a youtube celeb. I'm not trying to get views. I'm not trying to get sponsored. I have never uploaded a video of me surfing to any social media. I think it's fun to get footy of me surfing, and a few shots of my friends while I'm at it. Seeing a screengrab where i'm getting a cool little head-dip or a shot where the look on my face before a get axed is pretty hilarious... that can take me right back to that mid-wave feeling of joy. It's nice to have those in my back pocket when I'm having a s*** day at work. ------------- To anyone reading this thread: Next time you see a surfer with a gopro in the lineup, instead of being judgmental, think about things you do for happiness that may not be so cool or stylish or trendy, but make you feel good none-the-less.
