Add to,this the fact that Trout and Harper are buddies and have been texting each other throughout this whole fiasco. When Trout hits the market in 2020 the Phils are still going to be roughly 90 million under the luxury tax even with Harper. Throw in Hoskins (34 HR, 100 RBIs), and they add another 15 win pitcher, and you got yourself a helluva team.

i was talking to the wife about this thread because she's a huge baseball nut. She then told me stuff about Trout that was practically verbatim from what all youse have been telling me.

it really pisses me off that some chick knows more about baseball than me. And drinks more beer too.

guess I'll just have to grudge fk her tonight

    Helloooo, cinnamon ring.

    I hope so!
Philly is the one big city that's never had a true sports dynasty in the modern era (after WW2).
NY has the Yankee dynasties, LA the Lakers, Boston the Pats and the 60s Celtics, Chi had the Jordan Bulls, etc etc. Hell, even that crap hole Detroit had the 90s/early 00s Red Wings.

You'd have to go back to the 1910s Connie Mack led Philadelphia Athletics to find a Philly team that won more than 2 titles in a given time period. Philly has had some great teams like the 67 And 83 Sixers, the Broad Street Bullies era, and the 2008 to 2010 Phillies but never a true Dynasty.

Trout is the no-brainer best player in baseball but I would take Judge and Stanton. Judge is a top notch defender - certainly not trout but great. Stanton and Harper are virtually equal. There is a stat in baseball that evaluates each players value in terms of wins. Harpers is pretty low (for a super star). Dont get me wrong he is good but not highest salary in baseball good. Bats .240-.260, 40hr, 100 rbi. The Nats with Harper underachieved. I could be wrong. Now, add Trout and Phillies are best team in BB.

When I first relocated here, I pretty much adopted the local teams. So Hawks all day long baby. But I was a Charger fan when I started to crawl.

when Spanos jerked around the city of San Diego and moved the Chargers, I dropped 'em. They're done in my eyes.

Yeah Seattle actually has a great fan base. I don't know if it's because their sports teams have historically underachieved or it's all that coffee and beer they drink, but they really get behind their team (any sport) if they're doing well.

Not in a "bandwagon" kind of way, because they don't abandonne them or dog them when they're doing poorly. They just get super excited when one of the teams are doing well.

San Diego is weird. If a SD team is doing bad, nobody shows up except fans rooting for the other team. When they're doing well, a whole bunch of fans will come out, but nothing like Seattle. And even then, at least half of the stadium is filled with people rooting for the other team.

San Diego is basically a city that is made up of millions of transplants. There are very few true locals left. They've been pushed out and spread out across the country.

You all know them, they're the ones moving into your neighborhood and buying houses with cash, driving up the cost of your real estate and property taxes, and just generally driving the locals out of their minds.

    So glad I'm gone

I haven't seen Carr throw too many passes over 7 yards in the last couple of years. Those kind of numbers don't really seem to fit in AB's wheelhouse. Difficult to imagine those numbers changing much under a Chucky offense.

Tomlin wasn't much of a disciplinarian lol. Things will be a lot different, to say the least.

Does AB have the temperament to be a good teammate when these (and other things) don't go his way?

But hey, you never know. That's why they play the game.

ALL good points... only reason I said he’d have a big year is because he hates Big Ben. I think he will do whatever he can to show it was him and not Ben that made the great in Pitt

Yeah the guy's clearly a beast, probably top 2 with Beckham. Never mind all the diva sh1t, because T.O. has shown that you can take the talent elsewhere and succeed. But he needs someone who's got the cojones to sling the rock downfield, because he's not gonna be happy playing the slot. And Carr looks an awful lot like Alex Smith these days.

I don't have any skin on AB either way, other than the fact that I hate the Raiders lol
