I believe we have some serious coffee drinkers here. It's my favorite winter post-sesh refreshment and one vice I will not give up...for Lent or otherwise. Among my favorites: Starbucks Guatemala Antigua Cafe Du Monde Coffee and Chicory Seattle's Best Henry's Blend Trader Joe's also has some good blends. Cafe Bustelo has a good price and is widely available. My son uses it in his stove top espresso maker.
Great coffee here https://www.bluemountaincoffee.com/ But a little too expensive. My everyday go to is Mcdonalds black coffee. As weird as it sounds they have outstanding stuff.
Been to Cafe Du Monde a few times when I lived in NOLA - great coffee. Blue Mountain is Jamaica's official coffee and it's awesome, but like BFBA said, pricey. Down here it's all about the Cuban coffee, black with sugar. It's rocket fuel. Try the cafe con leche if you want a more mellow cup. Rich, smooth, and foamy.
Cafe Bustelo. Really the only game in your supermarket aisle. Get the espresso blend. Knocks the hell into you in the morning.
I used to put sugar and whatever else in my coffee, but when i was in college I ran out of money, and then I ran out of sugar. Since that day I drink it black. I have a cup of stone cold coffee from this morning sitting on my desk. I'll finish it before I go to lunch. I love the stuff. Nothing better than setting up the coffee maker the night before, setting the timer, and waking up to the smell and sound of coffee brewing the next morning. When you are too broke to buy food, a hot cup of joe can be a lifesaver. Coffee and a smoke (whatever you happen to be smoking) is one of the true pleasures in life.
I'm a fan of light roast brewed strong. Been buying bags of Ethiopian Sidamo whole beans - grind some up, pack it into a filter, and do a boiling water pour over. Drink it black. So freaking smooth and strong. More caffeine in the light roast, by the way.
And your addiction is complete when it is no longer about caffeine anymore. When you find yourself at 11:30 at night drinking de-caf just because you like the taste - you will have reached volume 11.
Mr. Wolf's face after taking a sip... perfect. This is been our house coffee for while now. https://www.kickinghorsecoffee.com/en/coffee/smart-ass-whole-bean
I didn't start drinking coffee until after college while in the Navy. Looking back, not sure how I got through college without coffee. When standing mid-watches (midnight to 0400) on the bridge or quarterdeck, caffeine was much appreciated; but the quality of some of this coffee was among the worst I ever tasted. Could seal a blacktop driveway with the stuff.
All the Coffee Messes at work had either Maxwell House or Folgers. Never really favored one much over the other as long as the drip coffee machines and pots were kept clean. Long ago, used to drink instant. Can't stand the stuff now. Recently returned after a week visiting my son in Seattle. Coffee shops on practically every corner. They love their coffee, craft beer, salmon, and getting outdoors regardless of the weather. My kind of place. DP: I know it's a far cry from FL, but weed is legal there and generally treated as no big deal.
