Singapore is a cool very modern city. Spent a few days there re-acclimating to technology and people after a 2 week remote Sumatra surf trip few years ago. Go to Little India, gorge on curry.
Personally, I would call up the airline and get a different flight - non- stop to Belmar, NJ. Perfect family resort town
I was there a couple years ago and took a quick flight to Bali for 2 days...worth it. Singapore is hot year round, but brutally hot during the summer. Also, check out 4 floors of whores. Just ask your cab driver.
Just got back. Pretty user friendly town where English speaking dominates. Pretty much everything will land you with a fine or jail, but believe or not washy washy is everywhere and legal. Could be an interesting place to live with tons of jobs and world class waves just a short puddle jumper away.
