Excellent damage control by Smollett's "handlers". tell the general public that the evidence to prosecute exists, but was dropped because it is in the best interests of local law enforcement, prosecutors, the City and all involved parties. Throw in a couple of politicians to feign shock and rage, a handful of power players to "demand" that Smollett pay back hundreds of thousands of $$$ for the resources used in the investigation, and you've practically removed all incentive to attempt any reversal of Chicago's decision on Smollett. Republican leaders can learn many lessons on the art of spin from their political counterparts.
Something hit me after I posted this. What if: the powers that run the City of Chicago (and maybe the State of Illinois as well) predicted that a Smollett conviction would loose the Chicago citizenry into the streets to protest in a massive riot? Maybe they believed that such a situation would be much more difficult to contain than the option of just letting a dumb clueless racist off the hook.
Smollett's press conference was a mistake. Waving that flag in front of the bull really ticked off the bulls: Rahm Emmanuel, Eddie Johnson, Trump, the American sheeple. One of the few times bi-partisan outrage evident. And then the dipshiiiit's legal beagles said they are considering suing CPD. That was really, really dumb. FBI now on it, perhaps. time will tell....
No, it was all feigned, a Shakespearean play, a greek tragedy (well, the guy is queer, isn't he?) designed to show who "owns" Chicago. Call in the KKK. Bring them down from Skokie......
here's the one rub tho, he's also gay and most black men (who would riot) don't look too kindly on the gheys.
So Trump wants the FBI to investigate? The same FBI that Obama's aide suggested to CPD have Smollett's case turned over to? Yeah, I dunno. Something stinks with this whole thing. But hey, seems to be the norm these days
From the Zerohedge folks: Imagine you committed a racial hate crime where you falsely accused people who didn’t look or think like you of a horrible atrocity, and that you’d have gladly picked some poor saps with the wrong skin tone out of a line-up and sent them to prison for decades given the chance. Now imagine the two half-wits you hired to help you managed to get caught on video buying their stereotype get-up and spilled it all to the fuzz, though the fact you paid them with a check – because you’re a criminal mastermind – was already enough to get a grand jury to indict your sorry AOC. Now, what are the chances the DA is going to transform your 16 felony counts into a $10K fine and a couple days community servicing? Your chances of said outcome are poor. They are poor because your pals are neither Mrs. Obama or Willie Brown’s gal pal.
Not picking a fight, Kyle, but tell me why you think Smollet walked. Also curious to see what you think if the roles were reversed - if a straight, white man faked a black hate crime blaming it on the Dems. In Illinois. Do you think the white guy walks?

There are plenty of white dudes that get away with sh!t too... what about that rich white kid in Texas that killed a bunch of people driving drunk and got probation? Think a poor black kid gets The same? What about that rich white kid that got away with rape at Stanford? Think a poor black kid gets the same? We’re all the swellies outraged then?
I don't think the white guys walks in Chicago, but I also don't think a former President stepped in to get him off the hook. I wonder if they questioned if they would even be able to get a conviction in Chicago. I'm guessing, much like the OJ trial, it would be difficult to find a jury in Chicago where at least one person might be acquitting him no matter what. Not saying it's right, just a ugly truth. Having lived in Chicago for brief periods of time, unfortunately none of this is very surprising.
