Pulled a chip out that didn't show on MRI. What was likely impinging my knee = pain. Pumped knee with cortisone. I gimped on out & drove home. Avoided arthroscopic surgery & the rehab from same (have had that once on each knee in yrs gone by). Don't get me wrong: having a large needle with a camera on the end of it probing around inside your knee whilst you're laying there trying to focus on the ceiling & breathe, just breathe, is no day at the beach. But if you can get through that extremely uncomfortable 20 mins, you will be (I hope) ready to rumble in a couple of weeks.
Fun Saturday afternoon on Delmarva. Chest high with a few bigger sets. Rode a longboard for the first time since last year i'm guessing and had a blast.
Really good this morning. Shot of my son. My pictures came out terrible so I salvaged this one with a B/W filter.
Got out into the sporadic waist high fail that was this afternoons misforcast ... and loved it. Water was cold but had that blue color to the foam and that ocean smell. Turned brighter by end of session, caught some fun ones and even rode the nose of the mini Mal which is NOT a noserider lol. My paddling was surprisingly fluid and fast and it immediately made me feel good to be wet again. I caught every wave i paddled for except two and everything felt right. Wasn’t an “epic” session, waves were too small and sporadic but it was a great session for me. My surfing was good and I was warm and felt the stoke again. Got out, gearing down and the wind goes hard offshore and the waves just started lining up ... so I suited back up and went in for another few rides and caught the sun on the way in. Good for the soul
Headed north of the city and paddled out into fog dense enough that you couldn't see the surfers from shore. Cleared up then got choppy then rained then got foggy again and finally after about 2 hours the fog lifted and it got pretty clean. Good times. 10 more days until 9-5 parking restrictions kick in which will be nice for the rich locals I guess.
I took the LB out for a late afternoon session at low tide. It was knee - waist high and kinda bumpy with light - moderate wind from the N / NE. I was catching lots of waves for the first hour and then it slowed down for the 2nd hour. There was a small shark that swam by me at one point, and then about 30 minutes later a small manatee came by to say hello as well. All in all a nice session. Nothing special as far as wave quality but I can’t complain.
a wknd of surfing. took out the 6'4 perfection on Sat morning. chop but proper size n drops. pop in n out kinda day, but it was fun at the washout - pretty spread out. took the LB on sunday and this morning. lil tougher on Sunday but more size despite the sideshorness. this morning was toes on the nose stuff - knee to thi hi. word
Aw shucks Bass. Thank you for being a friend. That was a crazy day, flat one minute and all time the next. In all honestly you witnessed what was probably my best hit in a decade. We should get a surf in together soon. Been too long brother. Another good run of swell came through. Great stories and good pics. Had a fun one this morning. Chest to head and glassy. Stayed local. On the beach early and it was already crowded with kids and teachers on spring break. Paddled a thruster out and caught a good number of lefts and a few rights. Easy take offs into little barrels with a quick hit at the end. The sets were spread out and shifty. Everybody was getting good ones keeping the crowd pretty mellow. Some dolphin swam by. It started getting wonky and my last few waves weren't great so I called it. Thought about switching to the fish but breakfast sounded better. Here i sit. I'm in my office wishing I wasn't wearing socks. More swell on tap. Post up if you surf.
got out in some marginal 1-2'+ yesterday, got a couple of fun ones until the dropping tide killed it. back to work and elevated blood pressure today
Good waves in hatteras again today. I love the 7'6" double-wing diamond tail 5 fin bonzer with raised-deck rails. Stoked.
It was a pretty fun day in Jersey. I stayed out there for 6 hours. It was a bit rainy, though. Chest high and real glassy. I got tossed around a lot. If you like real rough and glassy surf like I do, then today was your day. It was pretty fun, but I'm really worn out. Went out on Sunday down in Cape May for a couple hours, also. Wasn't as fun as today, but it was at least something decent.
i saw a 7'6 stewart 5 fin that i've had my eyes on for a couple weeks, still not sold. no dings and a good price, but i already got two 7'6" rides. so is the 5 fin necessary on a 7'6"? for that size, just wasn't sure if i would use all 5 fins
last day this week of swell for me; getting outta town this wknd. had some more knee to thi hi 50-75 yarders to the left or right. had a buddy join me on the DP sess, didn't see much push at the swell n tho it wasn't pumping, it was better off 6th. easy to catch, longer paddle out as the tide was coming so there was a good amount of water. had easily a baker's dozen before i came into work - on time! i was shocked. glad to get in four days in a row, not a huge accomplishment, but not feeling sore which is a plus. hope you guys get the same kinda luck
It's a bonzer 5-fin.that is how they are. There are 3-fin bonzers and 5-fin bonzers. The 4 outside fins are really small and the center is a single fin. I think your stewart is probably a 5-box which is not a bonzer.
I blew it and slept in this morning and missed some clean waist high surf with some chest high sets. How will I ever forgive myself for this? How can I go on?
