    Yo!
Anybody been to El Sal (Sunzal) area in late May? We have some time off so I'm trying to get down there with wife, 1.5 year old and boards. I was there before with no baby staying in El Tunco. Seems like its worth staying at Casa Del Mar right on the break. Anybody been to El Sal recently? How is the safety?
    Peace,

I haven't been to ES in a few years, but the last time I went we stayed @ Casa Del Mar - my buddies had been there a couple times before. Great place, expensive but would be really good call for the wife and baby. Overall ES felt a bit sketchy but with a driver arranged ahead of time to the hotel, should be no problems. Sunzal pulls a lot of swell in so you should score (this pic is from Sunzal )

Once rode chicken buses all around that country. Twenty years ago. I don't think it's "safe" these days but the fact that you can get a taxi from the airport to Zunzal without ever having to deal with the capital make it very unlikely that anything would ever happen to you. Basically, you'll be fine

Out of everywhere I've traveled with my wife (surf destination wise) she probably had the least amount of fun in El Salvador. There really isn't a lot to do other than surf. We made the most of it and hiked a volcano, mountain biked a coffee plantation and visited a butterfly farm. I would look at Panama. She would feel safe venturing off without you while you surf. If you do go to El Salvador I would definitely stay somewhere that has a nice pool.

El salvador is pretty rough for a wife and kid, it's pretty lacking in basic infrastructure / restaurants / cleanliness. If your wife has not traveled somewhere off the grid like that, it's going to be major shock for her. It would probably be a little better doing something in mainland Mexico or Costa Rica for your situation.
