Kanman, this is the tail on my 6’4”. 20” x2.5”. I would replicate this if and when I need another...

Kanman, you might want to look at the Qualifier, it's on the higher end of the scale for performance boarts. He does step-ups too. Whatever you want really, just have a discussion with Mike and he'll get you on the right boart. There's been many one-offs made and some of them become popular and end up as a "model".

I like that tail JayD, looks very similar to my DC’s tail. I like the hold on thumbs/ roundtails.

I appreciate the info. DP. A lot of good knowledge in there that I’ll have to sift through. The durability of his boards is what I find attractive. I like epoxy primarily. Only like poly with a heavier glassing schedule.

Anytime dude. I ride a 6'4" Flashback Fish and a 6' M-80, both are amazing and have been very durable. The performance is really what it's all about, and that's what they focus on the most with their shapes.

I have always focused on a narrower nose and tail, a little thinner with a harder rail when it get's round and reeling. Always felt rail thickness and hardness are critical in really steep down the line bowls..

Good point. On my shortboards the raials are relatively rounded but on the above 6’4” we went with a ‘sharper’ rail towards back 1/3...if that makes sense. I would be curious to hear LB and Mitch’s perspective on the rail (especially back 1/3)....

I like the look of that shape, Z. I had a lost shortround that is the step down/ squash tail version of that board. I got a sick barrel on that thing too, so I believe the QK works. That shape looks fun!

Last December my son got an invite to surf with Jamie Obrien and Ben Gravy and I went along to shoot. Checking out his boards they were not like any you'll find on the racks in a surf shop in these parts. The outlines and rocker were unique. His boards were perfect barrel boards. It was interesting to see what one of the best barrel riders in the world rides.

See slides 4 and 6 of this old surfline featuer. His boards have more tail rocker than the graphics would lead you to believe: https://www.surfline.com/surf-news/fresh-batch-jamie-obrien-wade-tokoro_106062/

I did not see model markings on the boards but they look like these two models:

My son was riding one of these which performed fairly decent but was clearly at its limits. https://www.sharpeyesurfboards.com/shop/surfboards/ht2

Spent the day reading through hundreds of Coil treads, thanks for keeping me busy DP lol

I’m seriously considering something by them. I found this shot one of the treads and love the outline. I couldn’t figure out which shape it is tho. Maybe a M80 roundtail?

That’s a sexy board. I might ask for just a little more nose width. How do you like it? What waves does it perform in?

Thanks, I've had it for a few years now and I f'ing love it. It's the boart I ride when the waves get good around here, it's a stubby HPSB, it performs very well when I am on my game. It can be ridden from waist to well OH. The largest waves I have had it in would be 6-8ft. It gets in pretty early because it paddles really well and planes quickly. It handles steep drops well, very connected to the wave type feel. We don't get barrels like up North but it's seen some solid vertical faces and a little bit of shade.

Awesome stuff DP. I like that design. Might see if he’ll go a little wider in the nose/ center point pushed forward.

Overall I like the shape. What lam did you get?
